Review: Turned by Virna DePaul

Welcome to a mesmerizing world where vampires hide among humans. This centuries-old species has its own rules, code of conduct, and taboos. Only the FBI knows that vampires exist—and although the Bureau agrees to keep their secret, it also plots to give humans the upper hand.

Turning mortals into vampires is forbidden.

But there are creatures who refuse to play by the rules.

Ever since he was turned, FBI special agent Ty Duncan has had one mission: bring rogue vampires to justice. As a recruiter for Belladonna, a shadow agency formed to keep vampires in check, Ty must tap Ana Martin, a troubled ex–gang member and one of the few mortals who can infiltrate places that his kind and the law cannot. From their first encounter, Ty fights a hunger to make Ana his own.

When Ty claims to have information about Ana’s missing sister, Ana has no choice but to trust this captivating stranger who awakens her deepest desires. But as she and Ty climb the heights of pleasure and passion, an enemy is conspiring to destroy them both.

Can Ana help Ty find his humanity in a love that could heal them both, or will their passion lead them into a darkness impossible to escape?

What an exciting new series involving a group of FBI Agents who also have been turned into vampires! This story has it all..romance, intrigue, and mystery. Ana and Ty's romance has the right level of steam, tension and compatibility. The mix of agents is interesting with several complex personalities whose backstories I cannot wait to discover. The ending was climatic and it delivered with just enough unresolved to whet my appetite for the next book.

Turned is such an intense book full of danger, passion, and secrets that my synopsis cannot even come close to doing the full story justice. Also, since it is the first book in the new Belladonna Agency series, we are subject to a lot of world-building, but Virna DePaul does this brilliantly. There are no information overload here, which drive me crazy in some books. Everything is explained in bits and pieces throughout the book to the heroine, Ana,since up until Ty tries to recruit her for the agency her she has no idea that Vampires even exist.

DePaul delivers with her first Belladonna Agency series book a story that will take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride from the first page till the end. I was fascinated by the story and the characters that I wasn't able to stop reading, so I stayed up really late till I finished it. Her characters are multi-dimensional and you will absolutely fall under their spell. For me it was hard to accept that I had actually finished reading the book. Fortunately we can look forward to more of the Belladonna Agency and their agents.

I can highly recommend this book to everyone who is looking for something new in the world of paranormal romance, I know you will love this book. Ms.DePaul is really an author you want to keep an eye on and I can hardly wait to read her next book.
