5/5 Review: FOOL ME ONCE by Harlan Coben

Maya is home from being away at war. She was a special ops pilot and has a past that's haunting her dreams. Visions she can't escape from. She can't escape a decision that was made during a mission. While she was away her sister was brutally murdered. Now her husband is gunned down and has died. Her friend gives her a nanny cam disguised as a digital picture frame to help Maya watch over her two year old daughter while she is away at work. Maya decides to review the footage and is in shock to see her deceased husband playing with her daughter. She can't believe hers eyes. Is her mind playing tricks on her? Or, is she actually seeing her dead husband. She's trying to place together the clues to see if she's going crazy or if in fact her dead husband is not so dead.

I'm so happy I was able to review this book. It was AMAZING! I really love a good mystery, and Harlan Coben writes some of the best I've ever read. Right from the start you are sucked into this story. Maya has lost her sister in an attack. Someone physically attacked her then shot her in the head. Maya is at war when this happened and is traumatized. They were really close. Then Maya and her husband meet up in Central Park one night after her return. Out of nowhere two men proceed to shoot her husband Joe in what is believed to be an attempted robbing gone bad. Maya's friend Eileen gives Maya one of her hidden nanny cams to help Maya watch over her nanny while she's at work. Eileen says trust no one.

While Maya is away working something strange appears on her nanny cam. Joe, Maya's supposedly dead husband makes an appearance in the home. It shows him sitting on the couch playing with their daughter. Maya doesn't know if she's losing her mind, or if she's really seeing what she thinks. Maya shows the video to the nanny to see if she can help put this into perspective, but the nanny says she doesn't see anything. Maya is confused and losses her temper. The nanny sprays Maya with pepper spray after Maya puts her hands on her. The nanny grabs the SD card out of the nanny cam and disappears. Maya starts to wonder if she is in on something that Maya thinks is something so much bigger.

Maya starts to piece together little things slowing and uncovers the truth behind her sisters death and even her husband. She puts her trust in a man, the last man on earth she should. With Corey's help she uncovers things. She finds out that her sister had been talking Corey to keep him from releasing information of a mission gone terribly wrong that Maya was involved in while overseas. She also uncovers some horrific truths about her husbands past. I don't want to give away too much, it would ruin reading the book!

This book keeps you guessing right from the beginning. I never saw the ending coming! I have to say I was shocked and even sad at the same time. This book is very well written and I would recommend this to anyone that loves a good mystery.

5/5 Review: Brotherhood in Death by J.D. Robb

Sometimes brotherhood can be another word for conspiracy. . . .
Dennis Mira just had two unpleasant surprises. First he learned that his cousin Edward was secretly meeting with a real estate agent about their late grandfather’s magnificent West Village brownstone, despite the promise they both made to keep it in the family. Then, when he went to the house to confront Edward about it, he got a blunt object to the back of the head.

Luckily Dennis is married to Charlotte Mira, the NYPSD’s top profiler and a good friend of Lieutenant Eve Dallas. When the two arrive on the scene, he explains that the last thing he saw was Edward in a chair, bruised and bloody. When he came to, his cousin was gone. With the mess cleaned up and the security disks removed, there’s nothing left behind but a few traces for forensics to analyze.

As a former lawyer, judge, and senator, Edward Mira mingled with the elite and crossed paths with criminals, making enemies on a regular basis. Like so many politicians, he also made some very close friends behind closed—and locked—doors. But a badge and a billionaire husband can get you into places others can’t go, and Eve intends to shine some light on the dirty deals and dark motives behind the disappearance of a powerful man, the family discord over a multimillion-dollar piece of real estate . . . and a new case that no one saw coming.

**********

I've read all in death books and short stories in this series and this is probably in the top five most emotionally intense of the books. It's also packs a serious emotional punch. If you haven't read any of the previous books, this is not the book to start the series with, since you have to know the characters and the back story to get the full emotional impact here. As with all lengthy series, there are some books that hit me on deep levels and set themselves apart from the others. "Brotherhood in Death" is definitely one of those. Without giving away anything--while saying enough that those who have already read it will understand--the scene where she tells Mr. Mira what was done to her actually brought tears to my eyes. I almost think this book title should have been "Family in Death".  I loved, loved, loved this book.

Robb pens gripping emotional upheaval and significant character growth for Eve. Whether it is Eve’s reaction to viewing the recordings, the uneasiness of knowing what the killers is doing is wrong but also understanding the pain that they are feeling, Robb puts Eve’s emotions and her pain out in the open. Even with Roarke and her marriage providing a rock on which to balance, she still struggles to weather the storm, literally and figuratively. And Robb provides Roarke with a few moments of realizing that there are somethings he cant shield Dallas from.

I love how Roberts has developed the relationship with Eve and her husband, Roarke and hope that in the next few books they have a baby and she will not find the need to end the series. A pregnant Eve and expectant Roarke would give this series an added zing. And likely push the heroine to pursue Captain status, a desk job she isn't quite yet ready for.

From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of the Brotherhoods crimes. The sense of understanding, that Dallas has for the victims, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. This story will remind her readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Brotherhood in Death is written with so much sensitivity and raw emotion that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Robb does have an exceptional gift! This Book is definitely a 10.

5/5 Review: Eighth Grave After Dark by Darynda Jones

With twelve hellhounds after her, pregnant Charley Davidson takes refuge at the only place she thinks they can't get to her: the grounds of an abandoned convent. But after months of being cooped up there, Charley is ready to pop. Both metaphorically and literally since she is now roughly the size of a beached whale. Fortunately, a new case has captured her attention, one that involves a murder on the very grounds the team has taken shelter upon. A decades-old murder of the newly-vowed nun she keeps seeing in the shadows is almost enough to pull her out of her doldrums.

Charley's been forbidden to step foot off the sacred grounds. While the angry hellhounds can't traverse the consecrated soil, they can lurk just beyond its borders. They have the entire team on edge, especially Reyes. And if Charley didn't know better, she would swear Reyes is getting sick. He grows hotter with every moment that passes, his heat scorching across her skin every time he's near, but naturally he swears he's fine.

While the team searches for clues on the Twelve, Charley just wants answers and is powerless to get them. But the mass of friends they've accrued helps. They convince her even more that everyone in her recent life has somehow been drawn to her, as though they were a part of a bigger picture all along. But the good feelings don't last for long because Charley is about to get the surprise of her crazy, mixed-up, supernatural life….

**********

I want to start off by saying..... I can't believe what I have missed.  This is the eighth installment of the series and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to follow along since it is my first time reading on of Darynda's books.  I have to say that getting thrown into the action as I was, was both exciting and a little overwhelming.  I definitely need to read the first seven books as I know that it will only increase my love for this series.

Charley's character is so we developed it is ridiculous.  I felt as if every time she spoke or did some thing I was hearing or seeing it as if it were really happening.  Another favorite is of course Reyes.  Reyes, to me is the ultimate fantasy.  His character is so delicious it's bad.  He is a typical male.  He has his stubbornness.  I kept getting frustrated with him every time he denied something was wrong.

I recommend this story not only to Supernatural fans but those who love a great story.  I am in need of the first seven books then it's off to the ninth for me.  Darynda Jones is now on my list of amazing authors.

5/5 Review: Edge of Danger by Katie Reus

When an assassin tries to kill undercover DEA agent Tucker Pankov the same week his boss is taken out, Tucker has good reason to be paranoid. And when other members of his elite team are not only targeted, but stripped of top-secret security clearance, Tucker has one shot at discovering who wants them dead—and why. So he kidnaps the only woman he thinks can save them.

Brilliant NSA analyst Karen Stafford doesn’t like being forced into anything, especially by someone she doesn’t trust. Yet after a hijacked US-owned drone starts attacking government installations resulting in mass casualties, Karen has to take Tucker’s side.  Now, two unlikely allies must unite to prevent an escalating and unthinkable terrorist conspiracy. But as Tucker and Karen grow intimate, they realize the conspiracy runs deep, and their enemies are closer than anyone realized.

**********

There was so much that happened in such a short amount of time that I didn't realize the initial time frame of when the Tyler's boss was murdered and when they captured the culprits behind the terrorist attacks was short.  It all happened within a few days.  During that time you lived a whole relationship between Tyler and Karen.  It amazes me how such a talented author can bring to life the world they create in their minds.
After disposing of the assassins sent after them, Tyler and 3 other DEA agents were framed for the death of their boss as well as some terrorist attacks that were hitting major places.  Kidnapping Karen Stafford was never part of the plan but after not getting a response from the one man they knew could help they had no other choice but to try and get help from her to get a message to Wesley.
Tucker wasn't looking for love and neither was Karen.  That didn't stop them from falling in love.  Karen, after hearing finding out that Tucker and his friends were being framed, decided to help clear their names and capture those who were responsible.  Saving each others lives was a top priority for them.
This was an incredibly written story filled with thrills, love, intrigue and so much more.  This is a definite must read.

5/5 Review: Madame X by Jasinda Wilder

My name is Madame X.I’m the best at what I do...

Hired to transform the uncultured, inept sons of the wealthy and powerful into decisive, confident men, Madame X wields culture and wit like a knife. But behind her sophisticated facade X is a woman adrift, trapped between a dangerous past she can’t remember and the protection of a seductive man who claims her body—and her soul.

Undone time and again by his exquisite dominance, X craves and fears his desire in equal measure. And while she longs for the safety of her tower penthouse, she also yearns to escape. But X has never known anything or anyone else—until he came along…

**********
Jasinda Wilder has done it again! Madame X is a wonderfully spun tale of a woman who teaches young wealthy men to be confident instead of arrogant and spoiled. She woke up 6 years ago, in a hospital beaten and broken after being attacked, she isn't alone and doesn't remember her name. Caleb is by her side and takes her home, helps her heal, and gives her a job. He seems great on the surface but treats X like she is property to be available when he deems it and then disappears. X doesn't have any outside communication and isn't allowed anything but a business relationship with her clients. If she crosses the line - Caleb makes her regret it. Needless to say Caleb is a bastard of epic proportions.

I must admit I wanted to shake X more then once because of the power she allowed Caleb and for some of the bad decisions she makes. The mystery is what and why is Caleb holding her the way he does. As, X's starts to grow and see the relationship for what it is, she meets a man named Logan who wants to treat her with love, and compassion. Cherish her for the gift she is. It was wonderful seeing how their connection started and moved so quickly in intensity.

Ms. Wilder's characters are hot, well-developed and strong. The story line progresses rapidly and will keep you involved and turning pages. I understand that it is part of a trilogy, but it doesn't leave you hanging just looking forward to seeing what the next book will unviel about the lovely Madame. If you are in the market for a darkish, erotic book, I would highly recommend this one.

5/5 Review: Fear the Dark: A Bishop/Special Crimes Unit Novel (A Bishop/SCU Novel) by Kay Hooper

Something strange is happening in the small mountain town of Serenity, Tennessee. People going on routine errands never reach their destination. It’s as if they simply disappear. Over the past few weeks, it’s happened to five men and women—and now a child.

The local police chief calls the FBI, and a team from the Special Crimes Unit is immediately sent in. Agents Lucas and Samantha Jordan, partners in work and in life, have very different abilities. Samantha is clairvoyant and Lucas possesses a unique ability to find the lost or abducted. With them are new partners Dante Swann, a medium, and Robbie Hodge, a telepath.

The town is already on the edge of panic, but the mysterious events take a sinister turn when a body unrelated to the missing persons case surfaces and one of the SCU agents vanishes. Now, the team’s hunt for the lost has turned into something very personal…and very dangerous.

**********

In a very small town in Tennessee, people are disappearing. Not only going missing, but seemingly disappearing into thin air. First it's two teenagers, eloping. Then a judge.
That's when the local sheriff calls in this very special branch of the FBI, whose agents all have one gift or another. The agents cannot figure out what's  going on,then a housewife goes missing. A 10-year-old child disappears in the middle of the night .. under the sight of a camera. When the investigation leads them to the conclusion that the person responsible for the crimes has powerful psychic powers, the investigators may also be in danger.

It's impossible to pass up a new Bishop/Special Crimes Unit novel from Kay Hooper. The premise behind the series is that the FBI has a Special Crimes Unit (SCU) headed by an enigmatic chief named Noah Bishop, who has at his disposal a hand-picked group of agents with unique abilities. Bishop matches an agent's ability to a case and dispatches them forthwith; the result is a comfortable general familiarity tying each of the novels, and trilogies, together while making each one different and unique.

This is a chilling story as you anticipate not only who the killer is but who will be the next victim. Hooper does an admirable job of drawing you into minor characters and having you invest in their outcome. I found myself dreading who the next victim might be as I was unwilling to give up on any of those I'd come to know in the story. The plot was complex while seemingly simple. There were enough clues for me to have a shot at solving the mystery and I came pretty close. The end of the story had an extremely interesting twist that could have been deduced. In the end its the entire Special Crimes Unit paranormal abilities are at the heart of this story and their skills are made believable by the author.

A great strength of Hooper's work is that the overlying premise of her Bishop mythos permits her to take players on --- and off --- the board at any time, providing an edginess to each storyline that might otherwise not be present. FEAR THE DARK is an excellent place to jump onto a series that, nine+ books into its inception, may only be getting warmed up.

4/5 Review: Viking Warrior Rising by Asa Maria Bradley

Leif Skarsganger and his elite band of immortal warriors have been charged to protect humanity from the evil Norse god Loki.

Under attack from Loki's minions, Leif is shocked to encounter a dark-haired beauty who fights like a warrior herself. Wounded and feverish, the Viking kisses her, inadvertently triggering an ancient Norse bond. But when Naya Brisbane breaks away and disappears before the bond is completed, Leif's warrior spirit goes berserk. If Leif doesn't find her fast, he's going to lose himself to permanent battle fury.

But Naya doesn't want to be found...and he'll do anything to find her. Because they're both running out of time.

**********

Viking Warrior Rising by Asa Maria Bradley is a good, exciting read.  Leif is the king of his people.  They are Viking warriors, men and women, who have to fight against Loki’s creatures.  The Vikings and Valkyries were put on Earth to protect the humans and to kill any of Loki’s creatures they can find, so that they make sure to stop a war that will destroy Earth.  Leif is experiencing more and more feelings of losing control of his beast.  Since fighting is done with guns now and not swords he doesn’t experience the same rush he used to, which fed the beast within him.  He was outside of a club feeding on the energy of the people inside, when he was ambushed by a few of Loki’s creatures.  He was saved by a woman who has a bunch of secrets.  Naya is a woman who was altered from birth.  She was born from a human mother and a father that was an altered male.  She is stronger than most and has accelerated healing.  She is also on the run from the people that took her from her family and kept her captive so that they can keep running experiments on her to get the best possible soldiers they can.  She broke out and then went back to get her brother.  After she broke them both out of the facility she knew that she had to continue to hide and make sure that no one found out where she put her brother.  When Naya and Leif meet again after she saves him, they don’t understand the pull they have towards each other, but things keep happening that throw them together.  They have to battle Loki’s minions and the people after Naya, but they each have so many secrets that they may just end up pushing each other away.  I enjoyed reading about Leif and Naya.  I liked how Asa interwove the Norse mythology in the book to make seem plausible a theory while reading.  I was drawn into their world and can’t wait to see if she has more relationships for the others under Leif’s care.

5/5 Review: Seduction Game: An I-Team Novel by Pamela Clare

CIA officer Nick Andris wants revenge. His last mission failed after a Georgian arms smuggler killed his lover. He’s been tailing a woman for three weeks hoping she will lead him to his target. But there’s a problem with the intel. Holly Elise Bradshaw is nothing more than an entertainment writer with a love for sex and designer clothes. Clearly someone at Langley made a mistake . . .

When Holly finds herself in trouble, the only weapons at her disposal are her brains and her body. But they won’t be enough to handle the man who’s following her. He’s going to turn her world upside-down.

**********

I will start by saying Seduction Game - is the seventh in the I-Team Series, however it reads well on it's own but now I want to read the entire series!

Holly is an entertainment reporter, or is she? Nick is CIA and has been assigned to watch Holly as she is supposed to be a spy. He doesn't understand why he is stalking what he thinks is an air head, who is in over her head dating the Russian mob leader who killed his girlfriend on a mission that went to crap.

When the story gets going you don't know who is setting whom up, who the good guys are and who the bad guys are! Then throw in the steam when Holly and Nick get together and baboom!

If you are in the market for a hot thriller-romance - this one is highly recommended and I can't wait to read the beginning of the series.

4/5 Review: Midnight Fire by Lisa Marie Rice

Jack Delvaux is alive
Summer Redding thought the blindingly handsome jock who'd loved and left her years ago had died in the Washington Massacre. She grieved for her lost golden boy as the rest of the country mourned their dead—until she comes home to find a very alive Jack Delvaux waiting for her with a devastating secret that turns her life upside down.
No longer the carefree man he was in his youth, this Jack is dark, hard and dangerous; a fifteen-year veteran of the CIA hungry for answers…and hungry for her. The rich, good-looking charmer who broke her heart once before would have been easy to resist, but this man, this powerful man? Summer needs him, and he knows it.
When Jack's mission uncovers evidence of government involvement in the Massacre—and plans for another attack—he's primed for revenge. But he has more than vengeance to live for now, and when Summer's life is threatened, it's nearly Jack's undoing. Someone taking shots at his woman? That's a dead man walking.

**********

This is the 4th installment of Lisa Marie Rice's Men of Midnight Series - we met Jack in book 3 - He was a mystery for the most part part but we did learn who he was. I'll continue by saying although it's a series - it stands okay on it's own but I would at least read book 3 (which is the only other book I have read). Both of the main characters Jack and Summer are introduced in Midnight Secrets) Midnight Fire has it all - Mystery, Suspense, a hell of a lot of romance and then throw in the continuing plot to topple the US Government.

Midnight Fire is Jack's story - he is trying to avenge his families murder along with 700 innocent souls, along with him trying to win back Summer's heart, and enlist her in his mission and protect her from the crazies. We know from Secrets that Jack was presumed dead in the Washington Massacre. He was a CIA agent that had been privy to some information regarding China. Jack has been hiding since the Massacre and investigating who had the motive and stood to gain the most if the US was no more. Can Jack bring them all to their knees?

Summer is a friend of Jack's sister and she fell in love with him when she was only 12 years old. Jack ignored her until they had one glorious week together when she was a freshman in college, then Jack broke her heart. While attending a funeral for Hector Black, the villian from Secrets, Summer thinks she recognizes Jack who is disguised as a homeless veteran. Jack saves Summer from almost being killed.

Can Jack keep Summer safe? Can Summer's heart give him one more chance? If you are in the market for a lovely suspense driven romance - I highly recommend this series.

4/5 Review: Secret Pleasure by Lora Leigh

In Secret Pleasure by #1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh, Sebastian and Shane De Loren were born to love Alyssa Hampstead. No other woman on Earth can burn for them, ignite with passion between them, the way Alyssa does. But after three sensual months of pleasure come to a crashing halt, Sebastian and Shane are left fighting their powerful family, risking it all to have Alyssa one more time...
Alyssa has closed off her heart. A senator's daughter in the political spotlight, she'd rather be quiet and safe than feel the emotional intensity Sebastian and Shane roused within her years ago. But when the sexy cousins blaze their way back into her life, Alyssa cannot help but succumb to the heady pleasures the two men can give her. And as an unknown enemy draws near, Alyssa will need Sebastian and Shane to protect her...and satisfy every forbidden craving...

**********

I have loved every book Lora Leigh has created and have never needed to read the blurb to a book to know I would love it. Secret Pleasures is no different.

Secret Pleasures revolve around cousins, Bastion and Shane who are both 24. They share the love of women together literally and live a very full life in doing so. This all changes the night Miss Alyssa walks in on them during a Christmas party. They both know she is too young for them, a very tender 18 and try their best to leave her alone. The problem is they cant, they have tasted her lips and yearn for more. They learn she is to travel to France in the Summer and there starts their endeavour to win her over.

Once their love starts its certain to burn with one touch. The story is dramatic, sexy and has all the sex scenes that we have come to love about Lora Leigh novels. The slow seduction of Alyssa is a highlight of the story. The way both Shane and Bastion make a perfect combination; both having very special qualities to give. They know she is their one love that completes them and everything they do is to entice her so that she gives to them what she has taken from them; their heart. Alyssa is both sweet and innocent and highly independent. She brings with her great depth and you can identify with her how every child leaving home for the first time feels, needing the independence that life can give you away from the protection of the family.

Secret Pleasures isnt my favourite of her stories but I am still much better of having read it than to have never known this story. Do yourself a favour and buy the book today for a nice steamy evening.

5/5 Review: Wolf Trouble (SWAT) by Paige Tyler

He's in trouble with a capital T
There's never been a female on the Dallas SWAT team and Senior Corporal Xander Riggs prefers it that way. The elite pack of alpha male wolfshifters is no place for a woman. But Khaki Blake is no ordinary woman.

When Khaki walks through the door attractive as hell and smelling like heaven, Xander doesn't know what the heck to do. Worse, she's put under his command and Xander's protective instincts go on high alert. When things start heating up both on and off the clock, it's almost impossible to keep their heads in the game and their hands off each other..

**********
After Khaki is blackballed by her fellow cops she is offered a job with SWAT. She moves to a new town and Xander is her boss. She is attracted to Xander. She does not want to date another co-worker after her last cop boyfriend turned out to be a psychopath. She is not comfortable with  her abilities as she can’t shift into a wolf and she can’t see in the dark like the others. She thinks that something may be  wrong with her. Xander is instantly attracted to Khaki.  Xander wonders if he can work with her when he is so distracted by her scent.Who will she go to when she needs help with her wolf side?

If you are looking for a bigger than life hero, look no further, Xander the wolf is all that and more! He is a strong alpha male character with a sensitive side that all women dream of. The strongest part of the plot is the action and the heavy, passionate romance.Things move along quickly .The story is introduced enough so the reader isn't confused and then its off like a rocket. The romance is scorching and formulaic like the series before it. Arrogant alpha male and Alpha female who won't be dictated to share a strong attraction and end up in fast and furious fight and love scenes. I happen to get a kick out of these stories feeling familiar in the paranormal version of a cozy read. I like that the challenges are mostly external and these are easy reads as a result.

I have to say I loved everything about this book and think it was perfect. The opening scene was brilliant and a memorable way to introduce the heroine. The hero and heroine, Xander and Khaki, are very likeable and strong characters. The romance and suspense components of this book were well balanced, and Xander and Khaki characterizations worked perfectly in both aspects. The addition of side characters we have come to know and love from the previous books just adds a new dynamic layer to the action. It's nice to catch up and get a small snippet of how things are going with them.

5/5 Review: Without Restraint by Angela Knight

The first novel in the explosive new Southern Shield series from New York Times bestselling author Angela Knight explores the intoxicating games between a female cop and a Navy SEAL—and the killer instincts of a secret enemy watching every move they make.
Atlanta deputy Alexis Rogers and Navy SEAL Frank Murphy know all about power and restraint, necessary force, and pushing their limits. When they meet in the darkness of a BDSM club, their skills are put to use. With each successive night comes a new adrenaline rush, and while they’re falling into something perilously close to love, their games are still too private, too extreme, and too daring ever to be exposed.

But their intimate lives are upended when a fellow deputy of Alex’s is killed. It’s not a tragic hazard of the job. It’s cold-blooded murder. And he’s not the last to be taken out. Now Alex and Frank have found themselves more vulnerable than ever—and exposed to a killer with a twisted vendetta who turns desire into the most dangerous sensation of all.
**********

What a story.  The level of detail and the style of writing is incredibly done.  It definitely feels as if the events are happening in a longer time span than it actually is.  The love Alex and Frank find in each other makes people hope to find something similar.  They have a steamy connection that leaves the reader squirming in their seats.

Alex and Frank, a former Seal, are both on the local police force.  A cop killer is targeting those close to Alex but she doesn't know why.  With her life on the line Frank will do anything in his power to keep her alive and by his side.  What a revelation it was for both Alex and Frank when it came to light who was doing the killing.  It was an amazing journey to follow as they fell in love, protected each other and fought against the monster trying to come between what they have.  I cried at some points in the book and squirmed in others.  This was a very well written book that I would recommend to those who love mystery and romance.  There are scenes that contain BDSM, which I personally love to read.  I can't wait to read more of Angela Knight's work.

Review: Bet You Can't Find Me by Linda S. Prather

“Imagine a killer who can kill at will from a distance. No gun, no weapon. Nothing more than a thought."
Catherine Mans has the ability to see and hear what others can’t. With the help of Homicide Sergeant Cody Allen, she’s turned that talent into a successful profession as a psychic consultant.
But Catherine’s past is coming back to haunt her. Someone is threatening the lives of everyone she loves. Nine bodies have been discovered, and Catherine is the FBI’s prime suspect.
To prove her innocence, she must unravel the secrets of her past, and answer the challenge of a deranged psychic.

This was a very clever thriller with many twists and turns. Catherine was brilliant as the heroine trying to piece together her past to try and find out who the killer was, and why they were trying to frame her. The pace was quick and relentless and at times left me breathless. The descriptions of New Orleans and the Bayou made me feel like I was there. There was a huge twist in the tale and when the twist was revealed, everything else made sense! I loved the idea of using a psychic killer, after all how do you catch someone you can't see? The ending was climactic And seemed to leave the way open for more - possibly a series?

If you love a good mystery mixed with the supernatural, and suspense, then this is the book for you. It is a thriller that has you thinking one way, and then within the next few pages you are on a journey that will keep you going until the end. It is like being on a roller coaster. You slowly make your way up to the top, all the time watching how high you are going. Then as you reach the top you say to yourself, “What was I thinking?” Yet it is too late to get off. This book is like a roller coaster. Once you start reading it, there is no turning back. The book will drawl you into the story and the characters. I thought I had it figured out half way through the book, and then sure enough I found out I was wrong. I recommend this as a totally different kind of thriller - a psychic thriller. Linda S. Prather has written a must read.
