4/5 Review: Viking Warrior Rising by Asa Maria Bradley

Leif Skarsganger and his elite band of immortal warriors have been charged to protect humanity from the evil Norse god Loki.

Under attack from Loki's minions, Leif is shocked to encounter a dark-haired beauty who fights like a warrior herself. Wounded and feverish, the Viking kisses her, inadvertently triggering an ancient Norse bond. But when Naya Brisbane breaks away and disappears before the bond is completed, Leif's warrior spirit goes berserk. If Leif doesn't find her fast, he's going to lose himself to permanent battle fury.

But Naya doesn't want to be found...and he'll do anything to find her. Because they're both running out of time.

Viking Warrior Rising by Asa Maria Bradley is a good, exciting read.  Leif is the king of his people.  They are Viking warriors, men and women, who have to fight against Loki’s creatures.  The Vikings and Valkyries were put on Earth to protect the humans and to kill any of Loki’s creatures they can find, so that they make sure to stop a war that will destroy Earth.  Leif is experiencing more and more feelings of losing control of his beast.  Since fighting is done with guns now and not swords he doesn’t experience the same rush he used to, which fed the beast within him.  He was outside of a club feeding on the energy of the people inside, when he was ambushed by a few of Loki’s creatures.  He was saved by a woman who has a bunch of secrets.  Naya is a woman who was altered from birth.  She was born from a human mother and a father that was an altered male.  She is stronger than most and has accelerated healing.  She is also on the run from the people that took her from her family and kept her captive so that they can keep running experiments on her to get the best possible soldiers they can.  She broke out and then went back to get her brother.  After she broke them both out of the facility she knew that she had to continue to hide and make sure that no one found out where she put her brother.  When Naya and Leif meet again after she saves him, they don’t understand the pull they have towards each other, but things keep happening that throw them together.  They have to battle Loki’s minions and the people after Naya, but they each have so many secrets that they may just end up pushing each other away.  I enjoyed reading about Leif and Naya.  I liked how Asa interwove the Norse mythology in the book to make seem plausible a theory while reading.  I was drawn into their world and can’t wait to see if she has more relationships for the others under Leif’s care.

5/5 Review: Rain Shadow by L.A. Witt

Jeremy Rose came to Bluewater Bay to work as Anna Maxwell's bodyguard, not to escape his increasingly bitter relationship with his estranged kids. He just wants to focus on his job and be alone for a while. He's done with love, especially now that three years after his long overdue divorce, he's got a front-row seat to the rapid deterioration between Anna and her girlfriend. Cynical doesn't even begin to describe him.

Then Anna and Leigh's attempts to reconcile put him in the crosshairs of marriage counselor Scott Fletcher. Scott's exactly what Jeremy needs right now: gorgeous, hot, horny, single, and 100% uninterested in a relationship. The problem is, too much no-strings-attached sex — and too much time in each other's company — inevitably builds emotional connection.

Except Jeremy refuses to seek counseling for his broken family, and Scott refuses to get seriously involved with men who work dangerous jobs. They both need to realize they can only hide for so long from the pain they came here to escape. They must face their pasts before they lose their shot at a happy future.
**********

Rain Shadow by L.A Witt is another great read!! Jeremy is a personal bodyguard to a director of a hit tv show.  He moved to Washington for the show (or that is what he tells himself) and left behind his ex-wife and two teenage children.  He accepted the fact that he was gay at an older age than most men.  He was already married and had two children.  Jeremy and his wife waited for a long time before mentioning to the children why they divorced and it blew up in their faces.  The children of course felt betrayed by Jeremy, so they really want nothing to do with him.  He convinces himself that he isn’t running away from his problems, but when he meets Scott he is shown that he really is hiding from his problems.  Scott is a family counselor who works in the same office where Jeremy’s charge sees her own therapist.  They meet while on a tour to see eagles and connect immediately.  They regret not exchanging information and think that they missed a chance at something good.  When they run into each other at the office Scott takes the initiative and gives Jeremey his contact information.  When they start to get together it is with the understanding that it is sex and sex alone, but they soon begin to be more for each other.  I loved Jeremy and Scott.  They flowed together so beautifully.  The chemistry between them is great and the interactions are amazing to read.  L.A Witt doesn’t disappoint and I can’t wait to read more books by this author.  I give this book 5 stars and would give more if I could.

5/5 Review: Dark Alpha's Claim by Donna Grant

There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I am coming for you...

My whole existence is based on taking what Death wants. Born to eliminate Fae guilty of unforgivable crimes, my reckless, wild nature makes me the perfect assassin to carry out Death's bidding. I've seen more sinister and violent dealings than anyone could ever imagine. But it was the sight of her face that stopped me cold. I've never wanted a woman-never mind a human-so badly; never felt my heart, hardened by death, burn brighter and hotter until it burst into flames. She is everything I desire. The kind of woman that compels you to stake your claim on her, to let the world know that she's yours. A Reaper saving her life will only attract danger, but I vow to protect her at all costs from the Fae that hunt her, and keep safe the woman who has claimed me, body and soul.

**********

Baylon is a fae reaper in the human world trying to keep his identity a secret and complete the missions he's given, however his next mission is a bit hard for him to swallow. Especially when he falls head over heels for Jordyn Patterson. Jordan is a half fae who doesn't know what she is, but finds herself obsessed in knowing everything their is to know about the Fae, and she's about to get the surprise of her life! With her life now in danger,  she must decide if love is worth the ultimate risk.

This is the first time I've read anything by Donna Grant and I really enjoyed her style of writing. The story flowed well and I loved the characters. The instant pull between Baylon and Jordyn is intriguing and you get pulled in learning about it along with them.

The dangerous guessing game of who's the ultimate "bad guy" has you guessing along with the rest of the reapers and there are surprises at every turn. I'm definitely ready for the next book in this new series and think this was a great one to start!

The only thing that confused me was the name of the book. Normally the term "Alpha" is used for werewolves and shifters, but that is not the case in this book. And I understand the term means an alpha male, but the title still threw me a bit. Other than that I loved the book and can't wait for the next one!

4/5 Review: Snowbound at Christmas by Debbie Mason

Surviving the holidays will take a Christmas miracle . . .
Ex-cop Cat O'Connor is bored working for her sister, Chloe, as a personal assistant on the set of her soap opera. Until Chloe gets an opportunity to audition for the role of a lifetime and asks her identical twin to substitute for her on the soap with no one the wiser. It's a perfect switch-until Cat attracts the attention of the mysterious Mr. Tall, Dark, and Way-too-handsome leading man.

Grayson Alexander never thought being snowbound in the charming town of Christmas, Colorado, for the holiday would get so hot. But between working with sexy, tough Cat on set and keeping his real reason for being there under wraps, he's definitely feeling the heat. And if there's one thing they'll learn as they bring out the mistletoe, it's that in this town, true love is always in season . . .

Cat O’Connor is working as her sister Chloe’s personal assistant on the set of her soap opera. Chloe gets an opportunity of a life time to audition for a role which she asks her identical twin to stand in for her on the show, no one would be the wiser. That is until Cat gains the attention of the sexy and mysterious Mr. tall, dark, and way too handsome leading man, Grayson Alexander. Grayson did not think he would be snowbound in the charming little town of Christmas, Colorado. He is there during the holiday season working with the tough and sexy Cat all while keeping the real reason why he is there under wraps. One thing they both will learn is that in this little town once they bring out the mistletoe, true love will be right around the corner.

Yet another prime example of how a romantic love story should be told. With bold characters both main and secondary along with a very in depth storyline, this book has what it takes to be a page turner. Grayson is one man I would love to sink my nails into, and maybe my teeth also. Cat is a women I would love to have as my own sister and even more as a friend. This charming story shows that no matter where you are, or who you are love will always find you. Plus having it set during the magical Christmas season makes this read even more magical.  This is the first book from Debbie Mason that I have read and it makes me want to read more from her.

5/5 Review: All I Want by Jill Shalvis

Zoe Stone lives in Sunshine, Idaho where she is a pilot for hire. Her life is thrown for a loop when she has her brother’s friend Parker comes to stay with her for a couple of weeks. Sparks between them fly like crazy and it only gets hotter between the two of them when she has to fly Parker around so he can collect evidence on suspected smugglers. Zoe and Parker not only live together but end up working together too. She happens to see a different side of him, which intrigues her immensely. Though he likes to give his opinion about her blind dates, she begins to realize it is only Parker that gets her motors running.

When I first picked up this book I never put it down. I can honestly say this book is beyond words fantastic. The characters seem so life like and made me feel like I actually knew them on a personal level. The words just flowed and it allowed you to feel and understand on a deep level the character’s personalities. Jill Shalvis made a strong women fall in love with a stronger man, and those relationships are always hot and steamy. It was like I was watching a good movie in my imagination with how well written this story was. Jill Shalvis is one author I enjoy reading on a daily basis, and this is not the first book I have read of hers that I couldn’t put down. All I Want is an amazing read that everyone should get their hands on.

Her bedroom door flew open, interrupting her thoughts, and her mother, Jennifer Morris, sparkling in the famed Morris diamonds, swept into the room. Her dress was of Belgian lace dyed in her favorite shade of sapphire, a color that matched her eyes. Her honey blonde hair barely betrayed a trace of gray. She glowed with eagerness for the evening ahead. She enjoyed crowds and being the center of attention. She had looked forward to this night for over twenty years, ever since the old duke of Baynton had suggested a match between their children.
Jenny shut the door and took in the situation in the room—Elin in her petticoats, her hair curling without a sense of order or style—and focused on the supper tray on the desk by the window overlooking the back garden.
“What is this? You haven’t touched any of your food. Sarah said she encouraged you to eat but I can see you haven’t taken even a bite.” Her mother approached her. Jenny was half a head taller than her daughter. She cupped Elin’s face in warm, loving hands. The rose scent of her perfume swirled around them. “Elin, you must eat. This evening is all about you. You are going to be very busy tonight. So many people will beg your attention, you won’t have time to sit let alone enjoy a bit of supper. And then, sweet bee, you need to finish dressing. Cook prepared the chicken in that French cream sauce you like so much. In fact, while you are eating, let me call for Sarah to come in and do your hair. We don’t want to keep Baynton and his guests waiting--”
Elin caught her mother’s hand before she could move away. “I can’t do this. I thought I could but I can’t.”
You can,” her mother answered. “You were meant to do this. Born for it. Elin--” She paused, closed her eyes as if searching for the right words, or patience. When she raised her lashes, her expression was one of loving concern. “Elin, forgive yourself. You made a mistake. It shouldn’t have happened, but it did. However, it was many years ago. What were you, fifteen?”
“I was to turn sixteen?”
“So very young. How could you have known? You trusted Benedict. Your father and I trusted him.”
“I was foolish.” A hard lump formed in Elin’s chest at the mention of Benedict Whitridge’s name. Ben had been her closest friend and he had taken what she should have protected—her virginity. He was also her betrothed’s younger brother.

Not only had the experience been painful and humiliating, he’d gone away the very next day. He’d left for a career in the military without a word of farewell. Or a warning that he was leaving, that he wouldn’t be there to reassure her when she needed him most.

She heard the click of the door latch behind her, but continued to touch up her makeup.
“How’s your date?”
Whirling around, she nearly toppled over when she lost her footing. Shocked, she rushed to the door and swung it open, peeking outside. She closed the door and turned to face a smirking Red. “What the hell are you doing?” she hissed. “This is the ladies’ room.”
He shrugged, his hazel eyes raking over her body. “I was just checking on you. You bolted from your table so fast, I thought something was wrong.”
“How is it that, of all the places in the city, we end up at the same restaurant?”
“Coincidence,” he told her. “Holiday party. The firm likes to go all out.”
“Really? Red, it’s not even December yet.”
“They did it early this year,” he explained, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear. “They’re calling it a harvest party.”
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming here?” She forced a frown onto her face even as her insides were melting at the smell of his cologne.

“Didn’t think I had to. But since you’re here, you could always join me.” He traced the vee on her dress, sending shivers up her spine. “Why don’t you get rid of the stiff and come up to my room?”
Tempted as she was, she wasn’t going out like that. “No,” she breathed, suddenly feeling very . . . hot. “I have a date.”
Slowly, he edged closer to her. She retreated until the hard doorknob dug into her back. Reaching behind her, he flipped the lock on the door, the click echoing in the empty bathroom. Sucking in a deep breath, she waited, anticipating his next move.
His fingers flitted across the hem of her dress and he inched it up a bit. Kneeling down, he slipped his hands under her dress and slowly pulled down her underwear. She held her breath, wondered what he would do next.
“Step out of them,” he ordered in a low, deep voice.
Bracing her hands on his shoulders, she stepped out of her lace panties. With a smirk, he stood up, tucked the thin material into the inside pocket of his suit jacket, and pulled out a tiny key card. He placed it in her hand and closed her fingers around it. “Room 1179,” he murmured, his lips a mere inch away from hers. Closing her eyes, she took in the smell of cognac on his breath and leaned closer.
His soft laugh brought her mind back to their location and she opened her eyes. She opened her mouth to speak, but he placed a finger over her lips.
“Shh. Try not to think about what I’m going to do to you, while you’re on your date.” Swinging open the door, he walked out, whistling.
She hated him—in the best way.

EXCERPT: Jessie Kay smiled, but the amusement didn’t last long. “You must hate that I’ve been with them.” “I hate the thought of you with anyone else and for a while, I thought I’d grow to resent the two for putting their hands on my woman. But now I realize it simply doesn’t matter. They are the past, and I am the present.” “Your woman,” she whispered, as if she couldn’t believe he’d said the words. “The future.” Gulping, she turned in her seat to fully face him. “How did Monica know you want to pretend I’m a human buffet?” West gripped the steering wheel more tightly. “I told her.” A moment passed in silence. A moment he lacked any kind of heartbeat, the stupid organ waiting for a reason to beat. “I want you, too,” she admitted. “You know I do. But I won’t do anything about it because I expect long-term and you insist on two months.” A heavy pause. “Right?” His body reacted to her words—I want you, too—growing hot and hungry, his heart now racing as an insatiable need for relief plagued him. “Right.” He couldn’t over look his reasons for keeping this particular schedule. Not even for Jessie Kay. It would be an insult to Jase and Tessa, even Beck. It would be an insult to the pain they’d suffered on his behalf. “Why?” she asked. “Why do you insist on two months? Tell me. Please.” “Not yet.” He’d have to tell her sooner or later, he saw that now, but as for tonight, there’d been enough turmoil. “If we can’t be together, you have to help me resist you. Tell me all the horrible things you’d do if we were involved. Cling? Demand to know every detail about my rotten childhood?” For a long, silent moment, she peered at him with yearning and hope, and it tore him up inside. He didn’t think there could be anything worse—until both emotions were eclipsed by resolve. “I would cling so hard,” she finally said. “I would ask a million questions about not just your childhood but your day, everyday, and if I thought, even for a second, you’d looked at another woman, I would punish you by refusing to sleep with you. For a week!” “You mean you would punish yourself. But keep going. This is helping.” Was it though? He wasn’t disturbed by the thought of her questions and her punishment. He was intrigued. “I would take horrible advantage of you,” she said. Again, he was intrigued. “Give me an example.” “Well, for starters, I would expect you to trade cars with me.” “Why?” “Because any boyfriend of mine would insist I drive the safer vehicle.” Guess who would soon be getting a new—safer—car all her own? But she wasn’t done. “And I hope you like your girlfriends in baggy shirts and sweatpants. The moment I have you nailed down,I’ll stop putting any effort in to my appearance.” He gave a mock shudder. “And despite your obvious aversion to gift-giving, I will expect a present for every anniversary. And,West? I believe every week together is a new anniversary.” The thought utterly terrified him. The one gift he’d given his mother, she’d pawned. The first gift he’d given to a foster mother hadn’t compared to the gifts she’d received from her own children. She’d proudly displayed theirs, and his—a drawing he’d slaved over—had ended up in the trash with the wrapping paper. “Your turn to help me.” Jessie Kay waved her hand at him. “Tell me the horrible things you’d do to me.” He brought her hand to his mouth, and licked between her knuckles. One taste. Just one…“I’d have a schedule drilled into your head by the end of the first day.” “Nothing new there.” “If you were a minute late to anything, I would pencil in a lecture and a spanking.” Her exaggerated gasp caused his lips to twitch at the corners. She placed her free hand over her throat, saying, “You’re such a beast! Yes, I would deserve and welcome the spanking. But the lecture? Cruel and unusual. How long would it last?” “Hours.” She tsk-tsked. “I hate to break it to you, sugar bear, but I wouldn’t hear a word. I’d be too busy day dreaming about the joys of single life.” “Don’t kid yourself, kitten. I’d deliver the lecture naked. You’d only want more of me, not less.” Goosebumps broke out over her skin. “What else?” “I would demand to be the center of your world.” He never had before, but with her, he was certain he’d make an exception. “Every minute of every day would be long to me. I would expect you in my bed every night and in my arms every morning. I would have you so often and so hard you wouldn’t be able to breathe without thinking of me.” Another moment passed in silence. Another moment without a heartbeat. He reached the house, parked in the driveway. “Horrible,” she finally said, her voice little more than smoke—smoke that drugged him…lured him deeper into her spell. He shook as he got out of the car, walked around and opened her door. “I need another reason. Now.” She stood before him, looking up at him with luminous eyes. “I would demand a hug at least ten times a day.” He didn’t have to fake a shudder this time. “I hate hugs. I never know how long or tight to hold on.” “Well, I can fix that in a jiff.” She stepped closer to him, stepped into him, winding her arms around his waist and pressing her cheek against his chest, where his heart drummed a thousand beats a minute. “Hold on until I say stop.” He obeyed without thought, wrapping his arms around her and clinging. “Tighter,” she said. “Good. That’s good.” A tension-laden pause. “Miserable yet?” “Beyond,” he whispered. “Good. Now run your fingers through my hair.” It was a dangerous game, the most dangerous one they’d ever played, and it utterly defeated the purpose of what they were trying to do. Still he ran his fingers through the silken strands of her hair, and she sighed with contentment. “Jessie Kay.” A heated rasp. She looked up, pressed a gentle kiss into his lips. The contact, even as brief as it was, obliterated whatever armor he’d had around his mind…his heart? His every hidden desire was suddenly on display, like exposed nerve endings, raw and sensitive. Suddenly he couldn’t breathe. He lowered his head and pressed his lips against hers, stealing her breath when she opened for him. Their tongues rolled together, soft and slow, and the incredible taste of her nearly unmanned him: the sugar that was a steady part of her diet laced with a hint of cinnamon. Two flavors he would forever associate with home…home…for the first time in his life, he felt as if he was home. “Jessie Kay.” As good as the kiss was, it had nothing to do with passion. Not in this stolen moment. Every stroke and thrust somehow deepened the emotion between them. She branded him. She took him to a place where the past no longer existed. There was only here and now, and they were the only two people alive. “West,” she gasped—then she pushed him away. They stood at arm’s length, both of them panting. Goal: Get her back in his arms. Without her, he had no anchor. He was set adrift, the past threatening to intrude. He reached for her, but she sidestepped him. Can’t let her get away. He caged her against the car to prevent an escape, and as she trembled, he cursed. He wasn’t this man. Needy and clingy—desperate. “N-now that we got that out of our systems,” she said, unable to look him in the eye, “the wanting should end.” “Yes,” he croaked. “The wanting should end.” Please. Let it end.   The Harder You Fall - RWB teaser 1   THE HARDER YOU FALL Synopsis: From New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter comes another scorching Original Heartbreakers tale featuring an aloof bad boy andthe rowdy Southern belle who rocks his world… Millionaire video-game creator Lincoln West has a dark and tragic past. 3/5 Review: On the Naughty List by Lori Foster, Carly Phillips, Beth Ciotta, Sugar Jamison

The most wonderful time of the year is back with On The Naughty List, bringing perennial favorite holiday stories from Lori Foster and Carly Phillips, along with two Christmas stories that delighted readers a year ago. This sexy anthology will make you want to give your heart to Christmas again and again…
Lori Foster has two co-workers plan a Christmas party side-by-side-and discover a love worth celebrating in Christmas Bonus
Carly Phillips explores a "mistletoe moment" when a no-nonsense lawyer intent on seducing her boss meets his twin instead--and gives him a scintillating kiss that leaves him begging for more in Naughty Under the Mistletoe.
In Sugar Jamison's Have Yourself a Curvy Little Christmas, former wild child Dina Gregory returns home to New York to find the father of her young son. Instead, she finds his stuffy older brother, Ben. Ben can't help but admire her tenacity—and her bold beauty. Could it be that Dina has reignited his Christmas spirit?
Beth Ciotta brings two friends who, after years apart, together at home for the holidays. They don't seem to have much in common anymore, but when the two get stranded together during a blizzard, they are forced to reexamine if they are better off as "just friends"? Or could it be that true love was there all along? in Some Kind of Wonderful.

So this book has 4 novellas in it, and I feel as if I should rate them separately so I accurately review the entire book. So here goes!

Christmas Bonus by Lori Foster 5/5
Lori is just amazing,  what can I say, she takes two characters and can tell you a short story that makes you beg for more! The story was well written, believable and very enjoyable for me. And of course the sex scenes are just the right amount of steamy for a romance novel. Definitely a must read for any Lori Foster fan!

Naughty Under the Mistletoe by Carly Phillips 2/5
I was excited to read this novella cause I've heard Carly's name come up in a list of favorites from my friends. Sadly Im afraid this story fell flat for me. It had potential in the beginning as a cute fling type of story. But as the story progressed I felt like she was trying to cram weeks or months for dating/getting to know you feelings into one night. The sex scenes were also lacking and hard to imagine, they just seemed too fake to me. She also made a few mistakes and some things just didn't make sense. And worst of all... the word Love was thrown around less than 12 hours (you read that right) of meeting each other.

Some Kind of Wonderful by Beth Coiotta 4/5
This story was written very well, and had me anticipating what was going to happen next. The main characters made me laugh and I enjoyed the sexual tension between them, the reason I only gave this one a 4 is because there was absolutely no sex scenes. Like none... one minute he's taking off her shirt, the next she's waking up.... what!? This is supposed to be a sexy romance novel! It needs those scenes!

Have Yourself a Curvy Little Christmas by Sugar Jamison 5/5
This story had big potential for me being a single curvy mom myself, and I wasn't let down! Both characters were written well and while both had "flaws" neither were overly dramatic about them. The relationship flowed very well and I found myself hoping everything would work out exactly how I pictured it in my head! All aspects of this story were written well, yes, including the sex scenes!

4/5 Review: Dream Of You: A Wait For You Novella (1001 Dark Nights) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Abby Erickson isn't looking for a one-night stand, a relationship, or anything that involves any one-on-one time, but when she witnesses a shocking crime, she's thrust into the hands of the sexiest man she's ever seen - Colton Anders. His job is to protect her, but with every look, every touch, and every simmering kiss, she's in danger of not only losing her life but her heart also.

**********

Dream of You by Jennifer Armentrout is a very quick read packed full of action, suspense, romance, and passion.

Abby is a widow at a very young age.  She married her high school sweetheart straight out of school and has never been with another man.  She has a lot of self esteem issues and can't understand why a guy like Colton is interested in her.

Colton is a GQ sexy Detective who is put on the case when Abby witnesses a murder after a truly horrible date.  She and Colton haven't seen each other since high school.  Both had crushes on each other but never did anything about it.  Abby had her boyfriend and thought Colton was too good for her.

Seeing each other after so much time has not diminished the feelings they have.  They start dating but Abby cannot get over her insecurities.  It takes almost being killed for her to open her eyes and realize what she could have with Colton if she gives it a real chance.

I would recommend this story for those who are interested in romance and short stories.  It took me a very short time to finish reading this story as it drew me in and held me there until the last page.

“You, Chloe. I need you.”
A shiver ran down her spine. A secret part of her wished she’d heard those words from a man who meant them in the way she craved. Though she’d been alive close to a century, no one had ever looked at her with the intensity that Kieran did now. No man had ever told her that he needed her.
“I’m sure I misheard you,” she said, trying to appear unruffled.
“Think about it,” he replied as he stalked toward her. “You understand my situation and requirements, plus
you’re already invested in this operation running smoothly.” He stopped when he was before her. “Considering what just happened, I know you can handle yourself around werewolves without appearing weak.”
She crossed her arms and tried to stare him down. “I am your handler, not your date.”
He ignored her, taking one step farther into her space. “Most importantly,” he continued. “I can kiss you and mean it.”
The breath rushed out of her. For a split second, the lonely corner of her soul wondered what it would be like to be in this man’s arms, even if it was only for pretend.
“I’ll write whatever check you want.”
The fantasy she’d been spinning in her head crashed back to earth with the ugly reality of his words.
She pushed past him, trying to ignore the hard planes of his chest under her palm. “Let me make something clear, you arrogant alpha. I am not for sale.” She dropped into her chair and crossed her legs, taking comfort in the desk separating them. At least she did until he planted his hands in the center of it and leaned forward to tower over her.
“Everyone has a price.”
“Not me,” she replied. “I’m not interested in being your squeeze toy.”
“You know I have a point. Vivian wants this deal, and she’s convinced you to want it as well. With you at the helm, there is no chance of a slip up. Plus, you can be assured of complete privacy, which protects both my interests and your agency’s reputation.”
The damn man had a point. She’d never been comfortable with the idea of buying another person’s silence.
“With your experience matching my kind, you have the knowledge to blend into the pack and the skills to keep yourself safe. Not to mention, witches are thoroughly compatible with wolves.”
She rolled her eyes at the one. “I take it you’re speaking from personal knowledge.”
A grin tugged at his lips. “Your people tend to have a wild streak that appeals to weres.”
“Not helping your cause.”
