Pure Folly is a historic, scary, and romance story. Alastair is a gay man in a time where admitting such a thing can get you in a lot of trouble. He falls in love with his cousin’s suitor. They become best friends and it gets harder and harder to be around him without giving away how he feels. During a dare Alastair and Jude have to spend the night in a haunted tower. Alastair is in a panic over it because he believes that his sister was possessed once as children. Jude is using this dare as a way to get close enough to Alastair to get him to admit what he feels for him and to see if something can out of whatever they discuss. So much is revealed over the course of the night that it changes the course of their lives. I loved Jude’s playfulness, and how he was able to draw Alastair out of his shell. I will definitely be reading more of this author’s work.

4/5 Review: Stalked by H.C. Brown
Stalked is a great book! Soren is a part of a secret group called the Slayers. They are nano enhanced soldiers who made sure to disappear from the higher ups so that they can continue to live. Soren was rescued by the other Slayers, he is a soldier who was enhanced with a different kind of nano. He has programming that shuts down most of his emotions because of the things he was made to do and the things he has seen. When he is ordered to watch over Micah he begins to feel things. He is made to keep watch over Micah to protect him from a stalker who is going around killing strippers. Micah is stressed because he believes that the man he was with was killed by the stalker, but the news he finds out devastates him. He doesn’t know why he feels the way he does for Soren but loves the way he makes him feel. Micah and Soren have to figure out who is killing the strippers and coming after him, or they will never be able to live in peace, or in as much peace they can have as Slayers. I can’t wait to read more about the Slayers!
5/5 Review: Running with Scissors by L.A. Witt
Running with Scissors is a book that pulled me into the story. I loved how being on tour was described. The almost constant demand of recording a record. Being on a bus almost nonstop with no privacy. The best though, was the rush of performing at a concert and the adrenaline rush that they all experienced when it was over. A.J is the new drummer, he has been with the band for a little over a year and he took over as the drummer when Jude left. Jude was having a relationship with Conner and the constant tension almost shattered the band. Jude is very impulsive and almost self-destructive. He left the band right before a big and influential event and almost cost them getting noticed. After a while of working at a job that made him want to bang his head against the wall and regretting his impulsive tendencies, he gets a call from the band’s manager. She begs him to help them out as the bassist because Wyatt walked out. Wyatt and Conner were sleeping together and that caused them to panic. Can Jude come back and not destroy the band? He wants to try but everyone of course resents him for leaving them like he did, and A.J is worried about being replaced. There is so much going on in this story but I loved how the author was able to draw me in and feel all of the emotions. Jude and A.J become close friends, but they really fight their attraction to each other. They know that getting together is a bad idea but they can’t help themselves and when they decide to begin seeing each other they start a chain of events that have the possibility of destroying everything that they have worked towards. I would love to read more about the band and find out what happens with the other members and to see more of Jude and A.J.

Review: For Real by Alexis Hall
I would definitely give this book 5 stars! I have never read anything by this author but the blurb intrigued me. The idea of the older man and the younger man is not new but the fact that the younger man is the Dom is different than what I am used to, and this author made it work. I could not put this book down almost as soon as I started reading!
The emotions that ripped through Laurie and Toby were so real and in your face that you felt part of the couple. I loved that while Toby is young (19 years old) he is not portrayed as being a kid playing at being a Dom. Laurie is looking for a Dom to make him feel alive again but even though he feels an almost instant connection to Toby he keeps a part of himself distant from him. The scenes between them are so emotional and explosive.
I love that Laurie is able to be the Sub he needs to be even though Toby is still learning to be the Dom he is meant to be, and whom better to teach him than his Sub. They learn to trust each other and I would to read about how their relationship progresses. It is not going to be the last book I read by Alexis Hall and would completely recommend this book.
