5/5 Review: WILD THINGS by Jennifer Ashley

Wild Things is the next instalment in the Unbound Series by Jennifer Ashley. This is a great piece of writing that could be read in an afternoon. If you haven’t read the other books in this series you won't be disadvantaged, it can be read as a stand-alone novel; although I would recommend reading them all just because they are so good!

Wild Things evolve around the sexy Wolf Shifter, Mason McNaughton and his mission to find the very rare Shifter healer to perform a miracle on fellow shifter, Aleck who has gone feral leaving the shifter community two choices, perform a miracle and bring him back or kill him. He first has to travel to New Orleans to find a psychic who he has been told to see to show him the way to the healer.

Enter beautiful, but human Jasmine who doesn’t trust shifters at all. Jasmine spends her day trying to help others through her psychic abilities and lives in her late grandmother’s house. The house itself has a major attitude and isn’t afraid of showing its feelings. Jasmine knows there is change coming, but just doesn’t know how much it’s going to change her life.

Once Jasmine and Mason meet the sparks fly and the chemistry is blinding. I absolutely love how these two form their relationship. It isn’t boy meets girl that hates him, girl falls in love with him anyway scenario. It’s told in such a way that Jasmine's hate for shifters is real, but shown to be not reason enough to resist each other, especially once certain things are explained.

There is the ex-boyfriend as the “nasty” factor in this story, but he is dealt with pretty quick and he actually makes way for the rest of the story to move ahead. The elusive healer is found and for the most part this story ends in a happy way. I could see future storylines forming towards the end of the book and look forward to see if any make it into the next book. I can’t wait for next book!

3/5 Review: TAMING HIS MATE by M. Limoges

Taming his Mate is the 8th instalment in the Black Hills Wolves Series.  Although I have only read this story and one other in the series you don't feel like you are missing anything.  Each book in this series is written by different authors and can be stand-alone books.  I thought this book was a great little read.

Stephen Dorsett is the loveable but highly sexy wolf shifter who has been waiting his time for his mate to finally realise they belong together.  He doesn’t understand why she won’t submit to him, but has tried to be patient with her until she came around.

Kate Matthews knows that Stephen is her mate and would love nothing more than to acknowledge it to the shifter world, but she carries a secret that she believes makes her not worthy of being a mate to anyone let along the gorgeous Stephen.

As with any good book, secrets can only last so long and as with this book Kate's secret is finally revealed.  I won’t spoil it for anyone and I will let you read to book to find out her secret.  I will say that this book is not only a good read but also reinforces the fact that some secrets should never be kept.

4/5 Review: MY HERO BEAR by Emma Fisher

My Hero Bear is the second instalment from the Bear Haven Series by Emma Fisher.  Although I haven’t read the first book in this series I found this book to be quite an easy read and never felt like I had missed so much that I didn’t understand the important issues within the series.

I loved the chemistry between Rory and Dylan.  Though you only get to see a small glimpse of their lives because of the length of the book, but it was so beautifully written that it’s enough of a taste to keep you going.

The story is about Rory who is in trouble and the only person she knows can save her is the very person she wishes she never had to see again, which is where Dylan enters the story.  Dylan on the other hand is such a mixed bag of emotions that you can’t help falling in love with him.  He wants only the best for his shifter family and friends, and is always pushing people away thinking that he is no good for them.

Dylan is an ex-military Special Forces has to try push through everything he has placed around himself in such a dense defence mode, that it seems like no one will break through.  Rory knows the only way she is going to survive is to break through.  She knows in her heart that if she doesn’t succeed she will not only die by the hands of those after her, but her heart will also wither because Dylan and her belong together.

5/5 Review: MOUNTAIN LION by Terry Bolryder

Mountain Lion is the fourth book in the Bear Haven Series written by Terry Bolryder.  I haven’t read the previous books in this series, but I didn’t feel I had missed out on any important information.  Of course, now that I have read this book and realised it was the 4th book I will be going back to read the other 3 while I wait for the next instalment.

This story revolves around sexy shifter rancher, Wyatt Reynolds.  He runs an upmarket horse ranch and mainly keeps to himself while trying to maintain his ranch.  He has previously helped his fellow bear shifter childhood friends find their mates, but his mate has managed to allude him and isn’t expecting to find his mate any time soon.

Valerie is the heroine of the story and although she is tiny she makes up for that in shear mental strength.  She was born to a mountain shifter family, but has yet to be able to shift.  She is a born fighter and has finally broken away from her abusive upbringing.  She doesn’t trust any man because she knows they are nothing but trouble.  She applies for a job at a ranch dressed as a male hoping to take unwanted attention away from herself and which she successfully does... for a short while until Wyatt enters the same bar she is drinking in.

As with all history, it has a way of creeping back into your current life and that’s what happens to Val.  The people from her past coming looking for her and it’s up to Wyatt and his friends to stop the evil spreading.  It’s only when Val believes she has might lose Wyatt after telling him she doesn’t want to be his mate that her shifter half takes over and finally emerges to protect what is hers.

The story has a rich story to it that you quickly become attached to and has all the funny and silly moments you expect to see within a newly formed friendship/relationship.  They have their difficulties trying to find a balance for what they both want and need and there is plenty of sexual play throughout the story to make you need a quick drink of cold water.

Mountain Lion is fun, light hearted, and sexy!
