4.5 Review: Wolfe Unleashed by Paige Tyler

This is my first Paige Tyler book.  Although this is written as a standalone, I had a bit of difficulty getting into it at first not knowing the characters.  However, once I let it go - I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The book is fast paced, full of action, romance, and oh yeah - WEREWOLVES!

In this one, get to meet Alex Trevino, he is a member of the Dallas SWAT unit.  (oh yeah, they are all were!)  He has stood on the sideline watching his team, his brothers, his packmates - find their soulmates (one).  When he takes a dog that he rescued to the vet - boom he meets her.  He wasn't really looking but he knows something is different about her.  Lacey is off of men after being blindsided by her ex.  She has been focusing on her career and is definitely not looking for a man.  She doesn't understand the pull he has on her either.

I have to say with all the action, the romance is just a sprinkle throughout.  The plot twists and suspense are center court.  Dog fighting, drug running and then Lacey's younger sister disappears along with several other college coed's.  It's an action filled ride from start to finish.  Just, when you think it's over - boom there is more!

Ms. Tyler's characters are superb!  Her writing is plot driven and will keep you turning pages to figure out who the bad guys are and if the team is going to solve it in time.  Add the paranormal romance and the spice that can only be were.  It is a wonderful book.  If you like paranormal romance, with a great action packed story.  I highly recommend this one!

He opened his mouth to order her to drop the MP5 she had aimed at him, but nothing would come out. It was like she'd robbed him of the ability to speak. Shooting her wasn't an option, though. And the idea of arresting her didn't make him feel any better.

There's a new gang of criminals in town who are organized and ruthless in the extreme. When Eric Becker, along with the rest of the Dallas SWAT team, ends up in the middle of a shootout, he immediately senses werewolves-a lot of them. Turns out, the new bad guys are a pack of wolf shifters.

In a spray of gunfire, Becker comes face-to-face with the most gorgeous woman he's ever seen. Becker does the logical thing. He hides her and leaves the scene with the rest of his team.

Jayna Winston has no idea why that SWAT guy helped her, but she's glad he did. Ever since she and her pack mates got mixed up with those Eastern European mobsters, everything had pretty much fallen apart.

So what's a street-savvy thief like Jayna going to do with a hot alpha-male wolf who's a police officer?

SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series, keeps getting better with each book in the series. Paige Tyler adds more details to her mythology, which adds to the suspense and intrigue. I love the addition of a new pack, including adding betas and omega werewolves. When I read a book that has captivated my attention in the most awesome way, I don't like to give detailed description of a book. You can get that from the excerpt and/or synopsis that the author releases. You will not regret reading this book.

Excellent read with lots of action, great plot and gorgeous hunky guys doing super macho rescues when they weren't— just what I expect from Paige Tyler. I adore this series. They're super fun to read and keep me smiling. Eric was a gruff and huggable, and Jayne is a Alpha Female. Perfect. And one of the absolute best things about Paige Tyler books? Her covers depict EXACTLY what she describes her characters as looking like in the book. A rarity these days in publishing, and one that comes greatly appreciated.

I really liked In The Company of Wolves   . I love shape shifter romances and I really liked both the Eric and Jayna- they were both strong yet vulnerable and both had a sense of humor. It was also nice to see a male who could deal with an alpha female without a whole bunch of power games. I thought that author Tyler also managed a successful balance between story and steam - with an action packed plot in the background and some steamy tension building in the romance.

This is an exciting story that I read in one sitting! I loved the 2 main characters and the chemistry between them is super hot. This book was great. It had the perfect mix of romance, action, and intrigue and I was hooked from page one. There was NEVER a point in the book where I was bored or willing to set it down. It was simply a great read and I can't wait for more from the SWAT team! As I mentioned earlier, this book is even better than the first, and I can't wait for the next!

He's in trouble with a capital T

Xander is instantly attracted to Khaki.  Xander wonders if he can work with her when he is so distracted by her scent.Who will she go to when she needs help with her wolf side?

If you are looking for a bigger than life hero, look no further, Xander the wolf is all that and more! He is a strong alpha male character with a sensitive side that all women dream of. The strongest part of the plot is the action and the heavy, passionate romance.Things move along quickly .The story is introduced enough so the reader isn't confused and then its off like a rocket. The romance is scorching and formulaic like the series before it. Arrogant alpha male and Alpha female who won't be dictated to share a strong attraction and end up in fast and furious fight and love scenes. I happen to get a kick out of these stories feeling familiar in the paranormal version of a cozy read. I like that the challenges are mostly external and these are easy reads as a result.

I have to say I loved everything about this book and think it was perfect. The opening scene was brilliant and a memorable way to introduce the heroine. The hero and heroine, Xander and Khaki, are very likeable and strong characters. The romance and suspense components of this book were well balanced, and Xander and Khaki characterizations worked perfectly in both aspects. The addition of side characters we have come to know and love from the previous books just adds a new dynamic layer to the action. It's nice to catch up and get a small snippet of how things are going with them.

“I’m sorry,” she murmured.

Clayne tipped his head to one side to look at her face. Her cheek was resting against his forearm. It was the first time he realized her complexion was so much lighter than his, almost creamy in comparison to his naturally tanned skin.

“About what?”

“I should have told you earlier that I was having an issue with the cold,” she said. “I was being stupid and stubborn. If the contact had shown up, I probably would have been too cold to be of much use to you.”

Clayne doubted it. “I don’t know about that. You feeling better now?”

He felt pretty damn good, that was for sure. He especially liked the part where his arm draped across her soft breasts. Which, now that he thought about it, was a dangerous place for his arm to be. “Much better,” she said in answer to his question. “I wish I knew your body was this warm before. I would have cuddled up with you every night.” She stiffened suddenly, as if realizing what she’d just said. “Um, that didn’t quite come out the way I intended it. I just meant…”

“Forget about it,” he said softly. “I know what you meant. It’s completely understandable that you’d want to cuddle up with me. I’m pretty irresistible.”

Where their hips pressed together, she could feel a bulge. She touched her tongue to his lips.

“Goddamnit.” Thad released her, stepped back, and breathed hard.

The loss of his heat against her cooled her as much as the look in his eyes. Pure terror.

“Get inside, Cheyenne. It’s not safe out here.” He growled the words and turned, walking away.
