5/5 Review: Wake a Sleeping Tiger by Lora Leigh

How many authors can say they are 30+ books into a series and they still have that magic touch? Lora Leigh certainly can.  Her latest novel, When a Sleeping Tiger Wakes is wonderfully written, still drawing us into a place where we can’t let go until the end.

In this story, Cullen Maverick and Chelsea Martinez are our newest and hottest mates to be.  Although they are newer to our community than others we have heard of them in earlier books.  Cullen is the twin to Graeme, a primal who borders with sanity every day.  After Cullen helped his twin secure his mate they needed to change their names; Cullen (Judd) and Graeme (Gideon) were born in the hopes both of them could leave their past behind them.

Chelsea has always had her family looking out for her, even when she doesn’t want it.  Working with Cullen at the Navajo Covert Law Enforcement Agency she had hoped to form some independence and show everyone how good she really is.  Cullen has other ideas that make her feel smothered and leaves her with no choice but to leave which is when everything changes.

Cullen has always known he is a recessive breed, but when Chelsea is placed in danger the animal inside decides that it’s time to show the world, especially those out for his mate exactly who he is.  To make a relationship work you need compromise.  The question is can Chelsea and Cullen learn to compromise their protective/independent identities before they lose something far more important.
Together Cullen and Chelsea make this story sizzle and with the added comedy from Graeme this book is hard to put down.  Recommended to anyone who wants a great read!

5/5 Review: For Maggie's Sake by Lora Leigh

For Maggie's Sake is written by one of my favorite authors, Lora Leigh.  I have never been disappointed in her books and doubt I ever will. Furthermore, Ms. Leigh is a master storyteller with unlimited masterpiece, her books has a mixture of tears, betrayals, a true testament for what true love can endure and conquer.

If you could think nothing could be worse than losing your husband, think again as Ms. Leigh takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions.  Maggie's husband, Grant has just died but instead of taking time to mourn him and try to get back on track with life, she is forced to fight for her freedom and hide from those that should be protecting her.

Our protagonist is Maggie's husband's former best friend, Joe, who coincidently happens to be her ex-lover.  Joe's feelings have never changed for Maggie, but he has maintained his distance to honour his friendship to both Maggie and Grant.

But life is never what one thought it would be, unknowingly mixed up with the  the mob, Maggie is being framed by the one person who was supposed to love her forever. To make matters worst, falling in love with her protector wasn't in the cards either. Now it's a race against time to sort out betrayals, trust, and find the evidence to clear Maggie's name.

5/5 Review: Wicked Lies by Lora Leigh

Wicked Lies is the second story in the Men of Summer series by Lora Leigh.  If you have loved her previous books, this will be no exception.

On the run for ten years, our heroine of the story is a 26 years old Annie.  For the previous two years she has resided in Loudoun, Tennessee which happens to be her family home town.  She moved there hoping that if she hides right under the nose of those wanting her dead, she will have a better chance of staying hidden.  This has been going great until her brother decided to interfere.

Cord Maddox investigates everything, and when the local school teacher falls under his radar and his findings lead him to lies, he starts investigating her fully.  He brings in his equally hot and sexy brothers (best friends) into the fold, hoping they can help unearth what Annie is hiding.

Bringing Jazz into this scenario has life altering effects.  There is something about Annie that Jazz finds both familiar and undeniably frustrating.  He knows she is watching him.  He knows she senses he watches her.  They flirt and tease but she closes up as soon as he gets close.

The little game they play changes when she has a very close call on her life, and Jazz finally confronts Annie about what and who she is hiding from.  As soon as things click into place there is no way the onslaught of emotions can be stopped.

From mountain men a,k.a family that is run like the mafia, sexy men, cute puppies and feisty women, this book has it all.  Spoiler: we even get a glimpse of the third book which I love reading at the end of the book.

If you haven't rush out to obtain a copy of Wicked Lies, you should do so to add to your stellar collection of Ms Leigh's amazing novels. Lora Leigh knows romance and her stories amplify intense emotion in readers!

4/5 Review: Secret Pleasure by Lora Leigh

In Secret Pleasure by #1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh, Sebastian and Shane De Loren were born to love Alyssa Hampstead. No other woman on Earth can burn for them, ignite with passion between them, the way Alyssa does. But after three sensual months of pleasure come to a crashing halt, Sebastian and Shane are left fighting their powerful family, risking it all to have Alyssa one more time...
Alyssa has closed off her heart. A senator's daughter in the political spotlight, she'd rather be quiet and safe than feel the emotional intensity Sebastian and Shane roused within her years ago. But when the sexy cousins blaze their way back into her life, Alyssa cannot help but succumb to the heady pleasures the two men can give her. And as an unknown enemy draws near, Alyssa will need Sebastian and Shane to protect her...and satisfy every forbidden craving...

**********

I have loved every book Lora Leigh has created and have never needed to read the blurb to a book to know I would love it. Secret Pleasures is no different.

Secret Pleasures revolve around cousins, Bastion and Shane who are both 24. They share the love of women together literally and live a very full life in doing so. This all changes the night Miss Alyssa walks in on them during a Christmas party. They both know she is too young for them, a very tender 18 and try their best to leave her alone. The problem is they cant, they have tasted her lips and yearn for more. They learn she is to travel to France in the Summer and there starts their endeavour to win her over.

Once their love starts its certain to burn with one touch. The story is dramatic, sexy and has all the sex scenes that we have come to love about Lora Leigh novels. The slow seduction of Alyssa is a highlight of the story. The way both Shane and Bastion make a perfect combination; both having very special qualities to give. They know she is their one love that completes them and everything they do is to entice her so that she gives to them what she has taken from them; their heart. Alyssa is both sweet and innocent and highly independent. She brings with her great depth and you can identify with her how every child leaving home for the first time feels, needing the independence that life can give you away from the protection of the family.

Secret Pleasures isnt my favourite of her stories but I am still much better of having read it than to have never known this story. Do yourself a favour and buy the book today for a nice steamy evening.

Review: Bengal's Quest by Lora Leigh

Having read all of this series, I cannot praise this book enough.  All of this Author's writings are amazing.  You will find no better writing that this.  Each of these books gives a glimpse into the Breeds world.  Each story holds so many emotions; Love, Lust, Protection, and Honor.

Cat was created and endured a life of hiding and sorrow.  She knew that one day G (Gideon) would return for her but she never imagined it would be a return for his mate.  She believed he had deserted her and left her to fend for herself.  Years later she will learn the truth. Will she be able to accept his truth or will her anger for him keep growing.

G loved Cat from the minute she was created.  As a young boy, he knew he had to protect her.  That protection came with a huge cost.  Can he explain and make her see reason or if he doomed for a life without his mate?

The world of Breeds is fascinating to me and I'm super happy to see Gideon finally get his story. I've been anxiously waiting for him to make his appearance.  I have enjoyed every book in this series.  I highly recommend to anyone who loves to read. These books will transport you into a world of despair, lost love, and happy ever after. So hold on to your seat, because you are in for the ride of a  lifetime with lots of bumps and twisted adventures.  Happy reading!

Lora Leigh Rule Breaker Interview & Giveaway

In RULE BREAKER, Lion Breed and enforcer Rule Breaker has just a few rules he doesn’t break. Not for anything. Not for anyone—like never have sex with a woman outside his own breed, especially a human woman. Especially someone too helpless, too fun loving and too full of life to ever be able to protect herself, let alone help him to protect her.  If the damned animal inside him insists on a mate, then why pick her? A woman who is an easy target and who can be used as a weapon against him at any time.  But what he suspects is mating heat may not be that at all. Just his animal instincts rioting, pacing, irritated whenever he's away from her.  What ensues is a fiery affair that breaks all the rules of mating heat and will eventually endanger his mate with the very rules designed to protect the Breeds—for she’s possibly been working against them…

Q. If you could live back in time, what time period would you choose and why?
I’d choose the early 1800’s. It was a time of growth. A time when adventures and possibilities were so endless. We didn’t have to worry about Global Warming, there was room to stretch, and every day brought something new. We learned more about the world by traveling, and we learned about people by meeting them. It was a less complicated time in many ways. A less hurried time, without the rush-rush-rush we live with today in many ways. Of course, there were none of the conveniences either, so there would definitely be a trade there.

Q. Have you ever come across a song that might fit the theme of one of your books?

Oh, several. One of the most memorable is Wildcard. It was inspired by Leanne Rimes’s “Probably Wouldn’t Feel This Way.” I listened to that song continual while I was writing that book.

Q.Do you remember what you felt when you had your first kiss?

Excited. A little scared. I felt poise on the edge of an adventure, a journey I hadn’t imagined existed. My heart was beating way too fast, I trembling, I was mesmerized. And it was even more wonderful than I had imagined it could be.

Q.What was the most creative pick up line you've ever used on someone or someone used on you?

“The swirl of my tongue will take you places no woman has ever gone before.” The story behind that one is … different. Maybe I should put that in a book?

Q.When writing do you have a playlist of music you like to listen to? What are a couple songs on it?

Oh yes. Unless one particular song has struck my imagination for a story, then my playlist is almost entirely 80’s music but mixed with a little new stuff.
Bonnie Tyler – Bright Eyes
Tina Turner – Holding Out For A Hero
Def Leppard – Love Bites
Those are just a few of the 150 song list.

Q. Besides your own, what is one of your favorite series to keep up with?
Christine Feehan – Carpathian Series
Nalini Singh – Psy-Changeling Series
Kresley Cole – Immortals Series
Christine Warren – Others Series
J.D. Robb – In Death series

Q. What do you think you would be doing if you weren't writing?

That’s a very scary thought actually.

Probably doing my level best to teach my dogs to talk or something totally insane like that. I get very bored very easily unless I’m writing, and I tend to get carried away with unique … umm… projects, if I’m not buried in my imagination. So, I just thank God for the escape He provided me with. Trust me, my family thanks him too, they used to have to deal with me before I began writing. My mother said it wasn’t pleasant. Especially during the years I tried my hand at being a chemist when I’d mix every known household cleaner, shampoo, or liquid compound I could find together. She says I used to get a bit inventive. I personally don’t remember it. She blames the lack of recall on the fumes…

Q. Do you have any hobbies or activities you enjoy doing?

I can halfway make gorgeous Barbie gowns. I can halfway make quilts. I have half a green thumb. I love to read better than I love bacon and I actually manage that one pretty well. I can halfway actually cause a hell of a lot of trouble if left to my own devices and know just enough about a few things to probably end up in some very serious trouble. I’m very thankful I write. I’m convinced it’s kept me from doing something like climbing those mountains I always said I would climb when I was younger. I’m so damned clumsy, I’d have fallen to my death. Or caused someone else to fall – that would have been a bad thing.

Q. What is something you do to de-stress?

What do I do to de-stress? I write!

Q. We all know about muses...what do you think inspires you to allow your creative juices flowing?

I actually believe I might have two Muses. And I’m convinced they’re a little upset at being paired with me for a writer, so they do their best to get back at me as often as possible.

They’re harsh taskmaster’s. They have no mercy, no understanding, and very little sympathy for illness, family or appointments. They keep me up all night with visions of erotic delights dancing through my head or bloody murder scenes that leave me cringing. Sometimes all in the same dream. And they does it in full color with written descriptions like captioning - *sigh.* You should feel very sorry for me, because they’re relentless, and quite tireless in how they’re determined to push past even my own limits.

My Muse’s and I have a very unique relationship. Visions of erotic delights (yum yum) paired with the bloody scenes that often have me cringing and refusing to fully describe. I mean, I do my best to fully describe the erotic delights – that can get tiring enough. Right?

Thank you for the wonderful questions, I’ve enjoyed answering them. And if you’d like to learn about the various series and characters my Muses haunt me with, then you can find me at www.loraleigh.com.
