Review 4/5 The Only One (1001 Dark Nights) by Lauren Blakely

I am quickly becoming a Lauren Blakely fan. This lovely little novella is her contribution to the 1001 Dark Nights collection.

Ms. Blakely brings us the sweet story.  Penelope  and Gabriel had a steamy little adventure 10 years prior to the story, they were in love.   Gabriel was to meet Penny at the Lincoln Center in front of the fountains, she waited he never showed - a bit like (a little bit like "An Affair to Remember).    He never showed Penny moved on with her life - not the life she thought she wanted but a life that she loved.  She now runs an animal rescue.  She hasn't really ever moved on from Gabriel.  While planning a fundraiser for her organization her caterer cancels and her assistant finds 3 local establishments that may be able to help.

Gabriel - has moved on as well - only he is now an up and coming chef.  When Penny walks in to discuss him helping her.  She recognizes him and is a bit put out because she doesn't think he knows who she is - let alone why he didn't show up all those years. ago.

Ms. Blakely - pulls you in and has you rooting for them quickly.  It's a wonderfully quick read, has little to no angst, bunches of mushy romance, and full of steam.

If you are in the market for a great second chance romance - this one is more than worth the time.

Review 5/5 Need You Now (1001 Dark Nights) by Lisa Renee Jones

I love Lisa Renee Jones, this is her contribution to the 1001 Dark Nights - and this little novella - made my heart spin a bit.  We meet Danny, a young woman working hard to save enough to pay for Medical School (I have a son working his tail off in med school so I instantly connected).

Danny, reluctantly goes out for drinks to celebrate her best friends birthday, only to be abandoned when her rocker boyfriend decides to grace them with his presence.   Alone, again she meets a talk dark stranger, she almost does something she regrets and runs away.   Arriving at work the next day she is called into her bosses office to find out that the man she almost had a one night stand with is her bosses nephew and has been brought in to evaluate the hotels.

Jensen - is all alpha all the time.  He knows what he wants and right now he wants Danny.  So he takes her along to inspect several other hotels.  And the fireworks begin!  I found myself wanting more.  I understand that this is to become a full length novel.  I will be on that!  If you are in the market for a wonderfully, steamy romance, that is a quick read, this one gets my highest recommendations.

Review 4/5 Hot Witness by Lynn Raye Harris

Hot Witness is part of the MacKenzie Family Collection and superbly written by Lynn Raye Harris.  I haven’t read the first three books in this collection, but from what I have read in book 4 I will be sure to read from book 1.

The novella centres around Jake Ryan who used to be member of the Brothers of Sin Motorcycle Club until a judge gave him an ultimatum; prison or military.  He became a better person and never looked to that life again until Washington Dc ask him to infiltrate them and protect a witness.  This is where things heat up.

Eva Gray is the opposite of what she was when her sister first starting interacting with the Brothers, before she disappeared forever.  In the attempt to find justice and revenge Eva changes everything about her to infiltrate the Brothers and is succeeding, what could possibly get in the way?

If Eva and Jake can fight the chemistry between them long enough to end the “bad guys” they might just survive this operation.  The story has action, fantastic characters and enough heat to keep you reaching for a nice cold drink of water.
