Review 4/5 Wicked Hot by Gennita Low

Wicked Hot is the latest Novella in the MacKenzie Family Series and written by Gennita Low.  I haven't read any books by this author before, but i was in for a treat.  Gennita Low is a beautifully skilled author and i absolutely adored this novella.

What could go wrong while you are on a well deserving holiday for the first time in years? To start with your friend could call in a favor you owe her and that favor could turn out to be a sexy 6 foot wicked looking male.

Enter Kirk Ryan.  Kirk requires a translator while he is in Indonesia trying to locate a kidnapped businessman from America.  He thinks it will be a simple job, in and out but what he didn't expect was the delicious Suria.

There is a lot of action and a lot of lead up work for the intelligence work needed to rescue the person kidnapped.  It isn't your typical happy ever after story and that can sometimes lead to disappointment, but i think Gennita Low did a great job of capturing the right amount of speculation to leave you thinking that they could have possibly got their happy ending after all.

Review 4/5 Hot Witness by Lynn Raye Harris

Hot Witness is part of the MacKenzie Family Collection and superbly written by Lynn Raye Harris.  I haven’t read the first three books in this collection, but from what I have read in book 4 I will be sure to read from book 1.

The novella centres around Jake Ryan who used to be member of the Brothers of Sin Motorcycle Club until a judge gave him an ultimatum; prison or military.  He became a better person and never looked to that life again until Washington Dc ask him to infiltrate them and protect a witness.  This is where things heat up.

Eva Gray is the opposite of what she was when her sister first starting interacting with the Brothers, before she disappeared forever.  In the attempt to find justice and revenge Eva changes everything about her to infiltrate the Brothers and is succeeding, what could possibly get in the way?

If Eva and Jake can fight the chemistry between them long enough to end the “bad guys” they might just survive this operation.  The story has action, fantastic characters and enough heat to keep you reaching for a nice cold drink of water.

3/5 Review A SEAL Forever by Anne Elizabeth

Even a hero needs someone to believe in him...

Parkour instructor Maura Maxwell has always denied her attraction for her bachelor neighbor because she's seen his revolving door of women and doesn't want to become another notch on his belt. But the man who rescues her from a sudden storm isn't the one she thinks she knows-he's Master Chief Declan Swifton of SEAL Team Five, and he literally sweeps Maura off her feet.

Just as his teasing and tenderness start to work their way into Maura's heart, Declan and his team are called in for a dangerous op in the Middle East. The man who returns is facing the toughest fight of his life, and he needs Maura by his side more than ever...

**********
A SEAL Forever is the 3rd book in the West Coast Navy SEALs series by Anne Elizabeth.  I believe you could read this as a stand alone book, if you havent read the other books in the series but to gain more of a connection to the characters it would probably be better to read in order.  This is the only book ive read in this series, but it was still easy to follow and didnt feel like there was a lot missing.
The story surrounds Maura Maxwell who is trying to rebuild her life after a terrible car accident.  She was going to be a career gymnast but everything changed with the crash.  Declan Swifton has spent his living and preparing for SEAL life.  To him, that is life until he rescues a drowning Maura and he starts to question his carefree life of keeping fit and one night women.
I found this story to be one of those cute little stories that you knew what was going to happen but the fun of it was watching it all unfold and seeing how they held each other up in the bad times and just how good they were together.  The dynamics of the book was a little on the soft side at times but still a great book to read.

4/5 Review: Retribution by Kate Pearce

Cheated out of his exit from the Tribute program, Kai Mexr is forced to return as a trainer for one more year. His trainee, Aled Price, is an idealistic Mitan patriot who Kai struggles not to loathe on sight, and who seems up for any challenge Kai sets him. As Aled learns to give up control and endure the program’s worst, Kai is drawn into an intense sexual game that leaves him wanting more.

But then Aled must fulfill his duty as Tribute. He must endure the Ungrich — or die.

When Aled returns, it takes Kai’s ruthless presence to pull his trainee back from the brink of madness. Surviving the Ungrich makes Aled doubt his blind allegiance to his planet — and to everything else he’d never thought to question. But with Kai at his side, Aled finds a new cause to believe in. And with the help of master trainer Akran and his partner Anna Lee, Aled and Kai forge unbreakable allegiances of blood, sex, and love that could save the entire planet from the Ungrich for good.

Kate Pearce’s Retribution is a read that may have triggers for some, so read with caution.  Now that being said this book is a really good read.  Sacrifice, Book 1, needs to be read before this one so that all of the background information on the tribute program and the world they live on is explained.  Kai Mexr was Commander Rehz’s right hand man and was supposed to retire when his last mission ended, but he was forced to come back as a trainer for another mission.  His new trainee is Aled Price another person with human genetics and stubborn streak a mile wide.  Kai and Aled butt heads from the very beginning, but realize that they need each other to survive.  They have to deal with the harsh realities of training, and when that is over, the treatment at the hands of the Ungrich.  Palk set his sights on Kai and his trainee and makes sure his presence is felt to both men.  Aled realizes that Kai doesn’t believe he deserves better than being taken roughly and without any choices in how he is taken, but trying to make Kai see that he deserves more may be battle too big for Aled.  We see Anna and Rehz in this book as well since the Ungrich seem to have set their sights on human DNA.  Both pairs realize that if their secret is not protected then they will be targets for the military to use them.  When Aled goes in to get his medical clearance and to finally be free to pursue a life with Kai, he is taken for the Ungrich, as is Anna.  Both Kai and Rehz now need to join forces and go rescue their mates.  This book ends on a cliffhanger.

Sworn to protect by Katie Reus is a quick read that leaves you wanting more.  This captivating story was written in a way that even though the timeline was short, it wasn't rushed.  I thought it genius how she developed the backstory so well that the reader got all the details needed.  Some authors forget that to make a good story great, giving enough details for the imagination is key.

Quinn and Athena dated a few months prior to us meeting them.  Their breakup was due to fear.  An emotion that seems to end a lot of relationships.  People have a fear to commit their lives to another not realizing that that may be the person they were meant to be with.  In this case it was true.  Neither Quinn nor Athena were able to get over each other.  Fate decided they needed anther chance.  However, the relationship might be taken away from them by someone from Quinn's past.
While he was on the police force, he discovered that his boss Glenn was avoiding his wife.  He saved her life and had Glenn locked away for 6 years.  Working for a security firm after leaving the force he uses every thing at his disposal to keep Athena safe after she was threatened.  Gotten wants to get back at Quinn.  Will he succeed at taking away the only thing that matters to Quinn?

I was unable to put this book down.  It was a quick read that went by even faster because it was so captivating.  I truly loved this book and regimens it to everyone.  This author has just made it to my favorite authors list.
