Review: The Bride Says No by Cathy Maxwell

Lady Aileen's exile to the country is suddenly and surprisingly interrupted in this entertaining story and I must say I enjoyed every incident and detail that disturbed her. The fact that this was a traditional plot with untraditionally original lead characters made for an enjoyable read. Blake is a dream hero, just the right mixture of gentleman with a touch of roughness around the edges that softens him out. Aileen is the enigma in the equation as what we know of her circumstances and what we see with her actions left me asking lots of questions. The setting is superb for the storyline; taking away the hustle and bustle of the London social life lets the reader concentrate on the situation and the key players. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. I won't say anything because I'd hate to give anything away but I love when characters progress and I'm eager to see what the outcomes is in this follow-up tale.
