Duke of Midnight by Elizabeth Hoyt

A dashing Duke who dispatches villains while in the pursuit of his parents’ murderer, is definitely a worthy hero. And who is more deserving of such a man than the fearless beauty who stands up to the dreaded Ghost of St. Giles and a peer of the realm. Artemis may be a meek lady’s companion, the poor relation who has no choices but she decides to give in to her adventuress spirit and live with the consequences.

The entire cast of characters in this story were amazingly entertaining, taking the tale from a simple love story to an epic journey. My favorite was the Duke’s beloved servant. The setting was fantastic adding an element of glamour and grit depending on the exact location, the details transported me with ease and I felt surrounded by the luxury and the squalor. I loved this author’s style and I cannot wait to read the continuing adventures of these characters.

I really want to see Artemis’s twin get his own happily ever after and Maximus’s sister deserves one as well, thankfully there is no shortage of fabulous people who this author can revisit and I am looking forward to reading about each and every one of them.
