Guardians Mate by Jennifer Ashley

Rae was not expecting her life to change on that fateful morning. She was cold and tired, and waiting for a new guardian to be chosen. She never imagined she'd be the one chosen. Not because she was a wolf in a feline group, but because she was a woman. Women were not chosen by the goddess to be a guardian. They just weren't. So why in the heavens did the goddess choose her!?

Zander did not like being disturbed. He did not like being interrupted, especially when he was fishing. He especially didn't like having a young new guardian wolf dropped off on his boat in the middle of the ocean.

Rae knew she needed Zanders help, but that didn't mean she wanted to be on a small boat with a giant polar bear shifter. The two clashed and only succeeded in getting into trouble everywhere they went.

Little did they know that trouble was about to find them...

The adventures that Zander and Rae got themselves in were outrageous! I couldn't help but laugh at the banter between them and the others they picked up along the way! Rae seemed to have a gift to make everyone around her love her in the best way possible. I loved the different aspects of each character and learning about their lives. The compassion each one had was simply amazing. I can't wait to read more about Zander and Rae!

Deja Who by MaryJanice Davidson

Leah is an insighter, one who can view your past lives and tell you why you have that pesky phobia. She's the best at her job, but she has no tact, and only 1 friend... Her life is coming to an end soon, she knows it. It happens in every life, her murder I mean. Tragic really.

Archer is a part time private investigator, he's decided he's no longer going to spy on Leah and give her the heads up on his clients crazy requests. Too bad he won't be getting paid for this one... what he didn't expect was to be stabbed when he approached Leah... it was quite rude of her...

After apologizing to Archer for stabbing him, he decides he's willing to help her (he's kinda smitten by the insider for some reason) there's a murderer out there plotting her demise. And together  (with her crazy homeless friend Cat) they're going to catch him/her/it... they hope.

The relationship between Leah and Archer is definitely a different one. I truly enjoyed reading from Archers POV, his inner monologue was hilarious, and he doesn't act like a grown man, which of course is a guarantee good time! Leah was a little harder to digest. She's very cynical and is hard to trust others. They're each so different that some times it was hard to jump back and forth. I love MJ Davidson vampire series, but found this book was very hard to read, especially in the beginning and I had to reread a few things to understand what was going on. This is not a light read, and complete concentration is needed when reading this book (which is hard to do as a single mom of two girls...)

Ruthless by Lexi Blake

Riley Lawless has a rough past, all he has left is his brothers and sister. And his desperate need for revenge, and Ellie Stratton is key to that revenge.

Ellie Stratton has always had to prove herself to other. She's a business woman in a man's world and has to bust ass to stay on top, the right way. So when Riley walks into her life and flips it upside-down, she doesn't know how to react.

But there are dangers that neither Riley or Ellie foresee, and their future is shaky at best, survivable at worst...

Every character in this book have detailed, complex lives and the story line will keep you guessing! The scenes are sexy and captivating, I couldn't put this book down!

Lexi Blake is a genius! I haven't read a book by her that I didn't love! She sucks you into her world and flips you upside-down! Ruthless will have you at the edge of your seat, staying up way too late, and begging for more!

Don't let go by Jaci Burton

Brady Conners is a simple man who just wants to live his life and paint motorcycles and own his own shop. He doesn't get involved in the town events and politely declines inventions to go out with the local crowd, until Megan Lee.

Megan owns a bakery shop in the small town of Hope. Everyone knows everyone and everyone is friendly. Except Brady, nobody had been able to crack him, and he rarely smiles. He came back to Hope due to a family death and is trying his hardest to stay to himself. But Megan won't have it. She wants to bring Brady out of his shell and into the land of the living. But it's going to take more than a warm apple turnover and a good cup of coffee... but Megan is determined.

Jaci Burton makes me want to live in the town of Hope! Everyone is so friendly and apparently very sexy! This is the second book in the series that I've read and the 6th in the actual series, you definitely don't have to read them in order, any can be read as a standalone. But why would you!? They're amazing and I'm excited to read the first 4!

Just what I needed by Lorelei James

Trinity is a rebel artist who dabbles in all types of art, her past is one of those tragic stories of step mother ruining her life and her running away from home. She's lost her boyfriend, her friend ran off with a sexy rugby player and she's sitting all alone at the bar... when her ex walks in with the woman who wrecked her relationship on his arms, Trinity just wants to sink into the booth and disappear. Until HE walks in! Tall, Nordic Viking of a man who's lips just beg to be kissed. So she does. She wasn't prepared for how much that kiss would effect her.

Walker had a shit day and just wants a drink. What he didn't expect when he walked into the bar was a sexy little thing walking right up to him and planting a big kiss on him. He less expected to enjoy her company! Now all he wants is another night our with the sexy temptress. Too bad he doesn't know her real name, or have the correct phone number....

I love this series, I love Lorelei James even more. She never fails to deliver the sexiest hero's in her books! And her heroines are always someone you can relate to! This is a sexy, light read that will have you smiling and laughing along with the characters. Definitely a must read!

Lorn (VLG 3) by Laurann Dohner

Lorn is volume 3 in the VLG Series from one of my favourite authors, Laurann Dohner.  Lorn lives up to expectations and more.  It’s a great read and full of danger, love and friendship.

The story revolves around Kira who is a half breed Vampire.  Her life hasn’t been an easy one.  Being raised by Vampires and Lycans can be very dangerous when your mother is a human and that is the one species that both Vampires and Lycans hate.  She isn’t accepted into the clan and she knows her only choice is to escape even if that means she has to leave the only love she has known.

Lorn has to make a life and death decision.  He has the choice to stand up as leader of his clan and declare his hidden love for Kira or move aside and watch Kira die.  Lorn is a fierce protector, loyal and looked up to.

There is so many mixed emotions, politics, love, hate and everything in between that makes this book stand out.  Loved it!

Kraven (VLG 2) by Laurann Dohner

Kraven is the second instalment in Laurann Dohner’s VLG Series.  Its well worth the read and I would recommend it to anyone who loves their shifters, likens and vampire stories.  It’s a quick read and perfect for a sunny afternoon relaxing.

The story continues on from where book 1 started.  After surviving a plane crash together sisters Dusti and Batina find themselves in a completely different reality than they expected.  Neither had ever trusted their grandfather, but after having no other option the sisters decided to board the fated plane to visit him in the hope that he might have some sort of family loyalty and be able to help them financially.  As we learnt from book 1, this was not the case and that’s where the story really begins.

This time we learn more about Kraven and Batina and how important they are.  Kraven is a sexy  alpha who although being driven crazy by Batina will see no harm come to her.  He is fiercely protective but it’s one of the things you grow to love about him.  He demands respect and expects everyone to follow his orders.  That’s probably about the only thing I liked about Batina, that she had the guts to stand up to him.  Batina was hard to like, but at the same time hard to hate.  I think the author did a magnificent job in writing the character of Batina as she isn’t the usual heroine, you really have to work to see the qualities in her that Kraven see.

This book has all the usual fighting, love, hate and sexual scenes you crave in Laurann Dohner books.

Drive you wild by Jennifer Bernard

I loved Drive You Wild by Jennifer Bernard. If you have been following the series you would know remember Trever Stark, as being not such a  friendly  guy, but the ladies love him and he actually has a big secret that he is hiding. Paige Taylor  is the eldest daughter of Kilby Catfish owner Crush Taylor. Her beautiful sand kid hearted soul led her into marriage and a life in Italy with her self-centred basketballer husband. Now divorced, she heads to her dad’s home in Kilby to regroup and figure out her life. As soon as she meets Trever the sparks start to fly.

Fans of Baseball romance will love this whole series and with each book we get a better look at all the players on the Kilby Catfish, the more I read the more I want them all to have their own story! You will quickly fall in love with Trever and cheer him and Paige on. I loved the way the characters interacted and played with each other. I loved the setting, a small town with its own baseball team.

There was definitely more to Paige than meets the eye. I really enjoyed learning more about Trever  and the struggles he had to overcome. I liked that the author let us see the real Trever  with his flaws and all behind his façade and that he as a whole lot of emotions. We got to see that he was not perfect; He just will do anything to keep his sister Nina safe at all cost. Underneath his tough exterior, he really cares deeply for those he considers his friends and they love him unconditionally and did not judge him. You will love this book.

All they ever wanted by Tracy Solheim

All They Ever Wanted by Tracy Solheim is the 2nd book in her Second Chances series. In All They Ever Wanted, Miles McAlister is our hero, and we had already met him in the first book of this, as he was Gavin’s (previous hero) brother. Miles is the politician in the family, have planned since he was a child to become the President one day. Lori is our heroine, she works in the B & B, as the cook and baker, not to mention being Mrs. McAlister’s right hand. We know that Lori is in hiding, living in Chances Inlet for a short time, to help Mile’s mom. What we don't know is who she is hiding from.

There are many layers to this story and yet it is so sweet and simple. Two people intent on avoiding any and all romantic relationships but were drawn to each other almost immediately .They are great together. Miles just made my heart melt!! Miles has always known that he was going to be somebody, he just needed to meet a women that would look good by his side. He was so caring and attentive and strong and vulnerable. Miles knows that she is hiding a secret so you wonder, will he choose Lori or his career?

I'm guessing many who pick up this book are doing so because they've read the outstanding Second Chances series where we encounter Miles for the first time, but if you haven't, you can read this novel as a standalone. Just keep in mind that it would be so much more poignant if you understand the world these characters come from. There's depth and richness to this story all on its own and it is a perfect companion to Second Chance series.

My best friends Stepfather by Opal Carew

Ashley  (or Ash as she prefers) is a writer for a popular magazine and has decided she wants to dive into the world of BDSM and uncover the truth and sexiness on what goes on behind the doors. She's requested the help of Darien (Dare) Gallagher, the once step father of her high school best friend. She's secretly had a crush on him for years, what better way to work this assignment?

However, her boss and long time friend Adam is not so keen on the idea. He's harbouring some strong feelings for Ash and thinks she's going to get in way over her head.

When Dare tells Ash she either participates, or her won't help her, she knows she's in trouble. There's no way she can so no to this man, especially when he's handing her everything she's ever wanted. But when emotions get involved, and an unwanted guest arrives, everything falls apart. When she runs to Adam, he thinks it's over, but there are secrets that are about to be reviled and Ash has to make a decision... one that will change her whole life.

This book started out brilliantly! It was sexy and provocative and I loved it! The love triangle between Ash, Dare and Adam was brilliant and it made me want to be her. But I felt like the last few chapters were rushed, and carelessly thought out. It didn't flow with the first 3/4ths of the book. The characters were great, the storyline was great, I just wished it have been a bit more detailed at the end. Thankfully it didn't completely ruin the book.

Dirtiest Secret by J Kenner

Dallas Sykes is a billionaire playboy nicknamed "The king of F***" and seems to do what he wants, when he wants no matter the consequences. But deep down he has more emotional wounds than you could imagine. Only a rare few know his secrets, and for good reason.

One of those secrets, the biggest of all, involves Jane. The girl of his dream, the one he can never have... not after...

The story of Dallas and Jane is such and emotional roller coaster. It's hard to guess what will happen next, and this book is so far from your average romance! I wish I could tell you more about the book, but it will ruin it, and it's too good to ruin! A must read! But be prepared, it's the first in a trilogy, and that means cliff-hangers, and unanswered questions. But I can't wait to get my hands on instalment 2!

*disclaimer - this book is very intense, and has some rough situations and includes teen sex.

Extreme Honor by Piper J Drake

Lyn Jones is dog trainer who works with the dog’s personality as a method of training.  She is brought in to work with Atlas because she called in a favor to be able to help him.  When she walks into the kennel she walks in with an attitude that immediately puts off the military man who works there, David Cruz.  They get off on very wrong footing and have a distrust of each other.  After dropping the attitude she convinces David that she is there because she wants to help Atlas get over losing his handler overseas.
As Lyn and David begin to work together Atlas begins to show real progress.  He is responding on his own and is beginning to show that he wants to work again.  This is good for a military dog but he is still showing a hesitation in following the directions being given to him.  Atlas also has a lot of people looking for him because he has information he doesn’t know he has that could put a lot of people in jail and most likely dead.
David knows that there is more to his friend’s death and when finds the chip in Atlas his suspicions are confirmed.  David tries to track down leads to find out exactly what his friend wanted to find out, but he also needs to make sure and protect Lyn, because she is being targeted as someone who knows more than she actually does.  David has to find out what is going on so that he can put the people who killed his friend behind bars and to keep Lyn protected.
This book by Piper J. Drake was the first I have read by her, but it definitely won’t be the last.  I look forward to reading the next in the series so I can see what happens to the rest of the men who live at the kennel and work with the many dogs that need training.  I enjoyed the action and the fact that David and Lyn didn’t immediately fall into bed together.  The relationship developed and they had time to learn things about each other that made them more likely to actually like each other.  I really enjoyed this story and recommend it to those who enjoy military romance.

Z: A demonica Novella by Larissa Ione

Z: A Demonica Novella by Larissa Ione is a masterpiece.  A quick read, but one that takes your breathe away.

Its hard to believe that a story that has taken place in the underworld could be a love story, but that’s exactly what this story is.  The story centres around Zubaal, a fallen angel who has given up everything to search for his one true love.  Working for the Grim Reaper he hopes to spot his love the moment her soul turns up.  What he didn’t expect was to find her when he crosses paths with Vex, a soul eater.

This story is so much more than hero searches for his heroine, finds her, they go through some hard times and all ends happy.  This story makes them work for it with a few very surprising twists.

As we learn in this story, souls are very funny strange things.  What you believe is one thing can turn out to be quite the opposite.  I absolutely loved the two main characters of Z and Vex and how they interact with each other.  Neither are looking for the other, both are loyal and loving, but you have to wonder if that’s enough.

Great read, great chemistry, great characters…..everything is GREAT.

The Geek Job by Eve Langlais

The Geek Job is by the talented Eve Langlais and she really outdone herself in this book.  I have grown to love all of her stories since finding her as an author not that long ago and this story had all the usual ingredients and more!

Lexie is a feisty werewolf who also just happens to be a bodyguard, certainly not the usual female character you find in books.  She is tough and knows how to get what she wants and doesn’t let anyone stand in her way.

Anthony comes from the polar opposite of Lexie.  He is essentially the Geek.  He is a scientist and brilliant at doing his job.  He is also the person Lexie is supposed to be protecting.  These two are made for each other.

The story has many twists and I loved how everything played out.  Anthony was supposed to be researching information about the local vampires but instead falls head over heal with his protector.  He also knows something has to change, he wants to be worthy of her.  What else would a scientist do in this situation but to find a solution to be her equal.

Loved everything about this book and if you haven’t read this book, grab it!! Don’t wait.

Smoke and Fire by Donna Grant

Smoke and Fire is the 9th instalment in A dark kings novel by Donna Grant.  It has all the ingredients for a wonderful story; sexiness, depth, great characters and a superb author.  Do yourself a huge favour and grab this book today.

Ryder and Kinsey are not strangers to one another, in fact they thought they were each other’s “the one” until disaster strikes.  Without explanation Ryder leaves Kinsey and disappears from her life.  They are both heartbroken but without a way to find out what happened Kinsey has no choice but to move on.

Move forward a few years and Kinsey gives Ryder no choice but to see her as she arrives on his doorstep.  The chemistry between them is ultra hot and its evident they are still madly in love with each other, but with atleast one closed heart its going to be difficult to mend their hearts.

A secret tore them apart but can honesty bring them back together?  This story not only tore them apart but also tears at the reader’s heart.  It is so full of emotion, twists, betrayal and raw honesty that your heart wont go unscathed reading this book.

5/5 Review: Scorched by Darkness by Alexandra Ivy

Scorched by Darkness is the second book in Alexandra Ivy’s Dragons of Eternity Series.  I haven’t read the first one in this series but loved this book regardless.

The story revolves around Torque who is half dragon/half fire imp who is betrothed to Rya, a half dragon/half Shinto.  Rya is missing and its Torques job to find her, with a little help from Levet the gargoyle.

When Torque and Rya actually meet is when the story really unfolds and comes to life.  Up until then Torque has always been too busy being a soldier to go through with mating ritual with Rya but once he sees her all that is pushed aside.  Rya is brave, strong and doesn’t let Torque or anyone else push her around.  Torque is loyal, strong and would now do anything for his beautiful mate.

Scorched by Darkness has twists and turns, turmoil, love, hate and just about every other emotion you can feel.  It was beautifully written and I highly recommend this book to anyone.

5/5 Review: Dark Alpha's Embrace by Donna Grant

Dark Alpha’s Embrace is the second book in Donna Grant’s Series of Reapers and although I haven’t read the first one in this series (yet) I didn’t feel like I couldn’t follow this book and had missed too much information.  This book continues to tell the story about a world filled with Demons, dragons, Fey, gods, warriors and so many more of the “supernatural” world.

River is half Fae and is determined to find everything about her family history and to keep it safe, which is easier said than done when the Fae coming looking for her books and her.  The Fae have killed all her family and she is next in line to fall, but when she meets one particular dark Fae love might be on her side.  Kyran has never once thought to or had the desire to cross the line he works under, he is a reaper and death is his life.  Once he meets River all that changes and his world is turned upside down.

I loved the chemistry between the two main characters, it was so believable.  They fit together like a beautiful jigsaw which is how I describe them from beginning to the finale of the book.  There are problems to sort, loyalty to challenge, secrets to be found but most of all a chance for love to win over.

If you haven’t already read this book, grab it today as Donna Grant has written a masterpiece.
