The Vampire Affair (part 1) by Vivi Anna

This was a great book.  It was the first book I had ever read by Vivi Anna.  I look forward to reading Vampire Affair part 2 and finding out how the story continues. The things Makayla did to get a story had me thinking yeah I would do that.  I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Mak had the pleasure of meeting one Jonathan Devane at a nightclub.  With the kiss that followed made Mak want to write a story on Jonathan for her magazine, to put him in his place.  She goes through great lengths to try and get close enough to him to get her info.  From pretending to be someone she is not to being a maid.  She wants the story so bad that she goes to a writers conference where she finds out he is a guest speaker.  Sparks fly and Mak tries to get closer, but it always seems that things get in their way.  This is a must read.

True Love by Jude Deveraux

I can’t begin to tell you how thrilled and honored that I was able to review True Love. I have loved Ms. Deveraux’s books for many years and this was the icing on the cake for me.  I absolutely loved this book.  It reminded me why I love her as an author.  It brought in a new branch of the Montgomery family, while reminding me of the ones I already knew.  It was great to read about Jilly and Mike and Kane and their wives even if it was only briefly. This is a must read for Deveraux fans. On to our review!

Alix and Jared met when she was 4 and he was 14 at his Aunt Addy’s house.  Now many years and secrets later our couple reunites at Aunt Addy’s.  Addy has requested in her will that Alix find out what happened to Valentina over 200 years ago.  Jared doesn’t want Alix in the house that is now his.  He tries to hide who he is so that he can have peace on his Island.  Meanwhile he is trying to help Alix without telling secrets that he has been protecting for so many years. The two realize that they are kindred spirits and falling in love with each other even though Jared was warned to keep his hands to himself.  The two work to solve the mystery and deal with Caleb the ghost of his long dead great great grandfather who won’t give straight answers and Alix’s parents.

Breaking the Rules by Jennifer Lewis

Who wouldn't want to break the rules for love? Romani gypsy Susana Cigan at the age of 13 knew who she would spend the rest of her life with, one night when a young Joe Figueroa comes to her on a dare to get his fortune told. Ten years later he comes back to find out his ex-wife wasn't exactly who was suppose to be the love of his life. When he confronts the gypsy that's haunted his dreams she confesses something she held back about the women. Things become hot and heavy when Susan must choice to stay with the traditions she was raised with, or follow her heart and body and follows her own destiny.

I enjoyed this story very much. I am a sucker for storylines about how our destinies are intertwined and finding that ONE person your met to be with for the rest of your life. Some would call it a fairy tale complex. Jennifer Lewis is a gifted writer, and definitely wrote a page turner.

Destiny Redeemed - Gabrielle Bisset

Enjoyable read. It's an otherworld type of story with a different kind of race called the Aeveren. These people make me think of the Phoenix in that they are extraordinarily long lived; it is not one consecutive life however, but many lives and they can remember their past lives. Pretty cool concept. They've got a "mate" or, “destined one” that biology has chosen for them, but they have to be lucky enough to find them in any given lifetime.  They can love and be with others, but it's just not as fulfilling. Destiny Redeemed gets 4 hearts-it was good but I was not completely absorbed.

Amon has lived for forty-seven lifetimes and has spent a great number of them being bad as he wants to be. All those lifetimes of  abusing his powers and using them to manipulate people to get what he wants-and damned be the consequences has finally caught up with him. He is sent to their people's equivalent of prison, Nil, for the remainder of his lifetimes. It takes his sidhe servant a year to break him out, and his time spent in Nil has reformed his selfish ways. Luckily for the female healer who is abducted to see to the grievous wounds inflicted upon him in Nil-only to find out that after waiting forty-five lifetimes she has finally found her destined one. To bad he is wanted/hunted criminal. Seeing that he is reformed she accepts him, and now he has to keep her safe from the bounty hunter sent for him and a former bad alliance.

Bitter Disenchantment: A Coveted Novella by Shawntelle Madison

Werewolf Natalya Stravinsky’s outspoken sidekick, Aggie McClure, is featured in this prequel novella. Before Agatha set foot in South Toms River, New Jersey, she had the fight of her life to face. Destined to be the alpha female over her Manhattan pack, Aggie was fully prepared to take on her role until her father arranges a marriage without her consent. She wants out–but the only way is with money–something her new controlling husband won’t give her to escape. But such odds never kept a wolf like Aggie down. To sever the twisted tie, she finds herself pitted against raging wood nymphs and backstabbing brownies in an underground supernatural fighting ring. With every victory, the sweet taste of freedom is closer, but her husband isn’t willing to let her go that easily. Until the very end, Aggie must fight for the one thing she’s never had: a choice.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You've already gotten to meet Agatha "Aggie" through Natalya's book "Coveted", but in this novella you get to learn more about her and her life. I enjoy when authors like Shawntelle do this, gives you a better understanding when it comes to character development. Shawntelle brings up certain character traits that are not always talked about due to of uncomfortable they are, which to me makes Aggie as well as Natalya and others more human than werewolf. Looking forward to learning more about Aggie in upcoming books.
Spot Light Author: The Devil's Touch by Vivien Sparx
Blurb:
Lucien Lance - a ruthless, relentless corporate raider. A man known for his single minded determination and his uncompromising thirst for money and power. A man so fearsome they had a name for him on Wall Street.
Lucifer.
When young Angelica meets Lucien at a business function she quickly discovers just how dangerous and sexy Lucien is, as he seduces her into an erotic world of dominance and submission using a mysterious pleasure technique called the 'Devil's Touch'.
But Lucien's hunger for wealth and control comes with a cost... and Angelica must decide how much she is willing to risk to earn the chance of love.
The first brush of his tongue was broad and soft, setting a swathe of new nerves on edge. Then when she felt his mouth again, it was as a series of hardened rapid flickers around - but never quite on - the jutting stiffened nub at her center.
"Oh, God. I... I can't take... I'm going to scream!" she hissed.
"Do it!" Lucien encouraged her. "Scream, Angelica. No one will hear you. Scream as loud as you can."
And she opened her mouth wide and the cry in her throat was a release of all her humiliation, her wanting, and her ecstatic rapture that sounded as a long exultant roar in the most absolute and shattering moment of Angelica's entire life.
Her eyes fluttered open slowly, and there was a dreamy, almost intoxicated glaze to her expression. Lucien was kneeling on the bed holding a glass tumbler of water. Angelica blinked up at him.
"You fainted," he said, and handed her the water.
"I... I fainted?"
Lucien nodded. "Just for a moment. It's nothing to worry about. The Devil's Touch does that to every woman."
                                                        About the Author:
As a writer of erotic romance, the beauty of the genre is not in creating lavish settings for my stories.
Nor is my fascination for erotic romance drawn from the opportunity to create handsome heroes and beautiful heroines.
My real love for the genre stems from the opportunity to take my readers on a journey and engage as many of their emotions as possible.
I believe writing erotic romance gives authors the most influence over how a reader feels as we engage them in our stories.
Writers of action books, or horror books certainly can create compelling situations, but with erotic romance we writers can immerse our readers in a multitude of emotions unprecedented in any other form of creative fiction.
I can frustrate readers, make them laugh, make them cry, delight them, intrigue them, inform them – erotic fiction is a total emotional experience, and it is gratifying to hear readers respond to stories with passion.
I believe readers want to be engaged and drawn into the pages of a story, and as a writer of erotic romance, we have the greatest opportunity because our stories are always relatable. They may be fictional worlds and fictional characters, but the themes of love and romance and erotica are so universal, and so personal to each of us that we all respond to stories in different ways.
But we all respond.
And that’s the true joy of writing erotic romance. It matters not so much how you respond as you read… it matters only that you do respond. If a writer can engage you and make you feel, then the story’s journey is one well worth taking.
The Devil's Touch by Vivien Sparx
                                                http://viviensparx.blogspot.com/
First off, I like how Vivien referred to herself the book when Lea tells Angelica about some books she can read about submission.
**Small Spoiler**
'"Come back to my apartment," she said. "I’ve got some stories
about Masters and their submissives on my kindle you can read.
They’re written by a woman named Vivien Sparx. After you’ve
read ‘Her Master’s Kiss’ you’ll know what to expect. Then you can
make up your mind."'
Now there are a couple things that threw me off. One there was no chapters and two, the almost constant back and forth between Angelica's point of view and Lucien's which made reading slightly confusing. Very well written and is absolutely a page turner. Once I started reading I didn't want to stop...as a friend described a book once, I must use now "panty melter". There was a turn of events I didn't see coming and it was rather exciting yet a little scary. Nice to see how Lucien's and Angelica's personal characteristics go one way to another.
This book is the second in the Blackthorn series. This was my first time picking up a book by Lindsay Pryor and I enjoyed it immensely. I will be getting the rest of this series. This is a time when humans and werewolves; vampires and witches all exist together but not in harmony.
Leila would do anything for her sisters. When Leila finds out her sister Alisha is missing and being held by vampires she has no choice but to head to Blackthorn and save her sister. Darius by Grace Burrowes
I will have to admit that when I first started reading this book I wasn’t sure if I would like it. It turned out that I loved it! I want to read more from this author. The way Ms. Burrowes wrote it was if I could see every detail in my head. It also made me want to accept a hot toddy from Darius. If you like historical romance then I recommend getting this book.
Darius is the son of an Earl, he is not the first born. We know that after the first son the following sons don’t get anything. Darius is trying to put a roof of his family of, for a lack of a better word cast offs. So he has sex for money. Enter William and Vivian. Being Me by Lisa Renee Jones
                                                http://www.lisareneejones.com/
50 shade of Gray has nothing on Ms. Jones!! I had never read one of Ms. Jones books before Being Me. I can honestly say that I am glad I read it. I now have the rest of her books and I look forward to reading them. Everyone has some secret that they hide for some reason. The goal is to find someone who is strong enough to hold you up when you feel the world is letting you down.
Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire
                                                  http://www.jamiemcguire.com/
This was a good book. For me it was confusing to start with. When the book started the author and talked about the circle and it took me to figure out that it was a fight ring. This book is suited for young adults. I loved how the author described the difference between vultures and pigeons. Vultures are the ones that are only around for a good time. They are not the ones that you would have a serious relationship with. Pigeons on the other hand are the ones that you would fight for because you know that it will be a lasting relationship.
The main characters Travis and Abby are both in the same college. Travis remembers what is mom told his before she died about Pigeons and Vultures. He also realizes that Abby is a Pigeon. Travis also knows that his reputation as a womanizer will come into play with his chances of winning Abby over. To win her over he suggests that they just be friends since her best friend is dating his cousin.
Abby is afraid to trust Travis but Travis is willing to do anything to let Abby realize that he is the right guy for her. They fights and arguments that these two have are so believable that it is like the author is writing from experience. To know that Travis finds and keeps his Pigeon is heart warming. The fact that Abby learns to trust Travis makes this book a great read!
Nautier & Wilder by Lora Leigh and Jaci Burton
Nauti Siren
This book is another hit in the Nauti series!!! I will admit that I am usually worried when cousins or half siblings are introduced into a series. I had nothing to fear when reading this book. Lora Leigh managed to introduce Dawgs half sisters without loosing the feel of the Nauti series and I loved that.
This story is about Piper McKay and Jedediah Booker. Piper is Dawg’s half sister and he is very protective of his family. Enter Jed, he is staying at the Inn that the McKay’s own. Jed and Piper have been yearning for each other. Piper is an artist and she is afraid to let Jed to close to her for fear that he will be over protective like her brother. This doesn’t stop the sparks from flying between the two of them.
Jed doesn’t want Piper to go very far, he wants to protect her for fear of backlash from the bad guys after the McKay’s. Piper decides to sneak out one night because she has gotten the opportunity of a life time for a designer to look at her work. She heads to New York without telling anyone in the family. She goes and buys fabric and notions for some designs she has. Then she goes and meets the designer which almost turns out bad for her. She is so shaken that she goes back to her hotel room she is attacked and luckily the attacker is chased away by some other people. Jed is called to hospital to take care of her.
He takes her back to Kentucky and Dawg and his cousins find out about the attack and they are all pissed. Dawg knows that if they try to protect her they will all lose Piper. They all soon realize that when Piper rented the SUV in New York that she had gotten some gems mixed in with her notions.
The Nauti boys do what they do best and protect Piper with Jed’s help.
Lover At Last by J.R. Ward
                                                http://www.jrward.com/
“With Qhuinn looking at him like that, he couldn’t remember his own name. Blaysox? Blacklock? Blabberfox?”  When I read this line I had to laugh.  This book was another hit in the Black Dagger series.   When I read these series, I could always feel the sexual tension between Qhuinn and Blaylock.
(spoiler alert)
There are so many details and mini storylines going on in this book that to actually tell you about it would be hard.  So I will focus on Qhuinn  and Blay.  That way you can read the story and find out about the others.
John Matthew and Qhuinn are out on patrol.  Qhuinn is John Matthews ashtruz nohtrum.  Meaning that he is Johns guard and he must always be with John. They stop and get snacks at the store. Two guys with a death wish decide to steal Qhuinns hummer.  They manage to track it down with the help of Rhage and Blay.  It is during this time that Blay realizes that Qhuinn is still on his suicide mission. Qhuinn gets injured when he tries to get his Hummer back.  He sees a little girl while he is hurt.  Blay and Qhuinn have been attracted to each other and were best friends before they transitioned.  They are both to pig headed to act on the mutual attraction.
The story continues with Selena the Chosen going into her needing.  Selena is really close with Qhuinn and asks him to service her because she wants a child.  Qhuinn agrees to this because he knows that there is no mate for him and he wants a child.  Blay feels that there is no chance for him when he finds out that Qhuinn and Selena are expecting a young one.  The problem is that Selena starts to miscarry.  Selena is a Chosen and they are NOT supposed to have sex.  This causes Phury who is the primale to get involved.  Qhuinn and Blay and Phury take Selena to Dr. Havers trying to help stop the miscarriage but they are unable.  When they return to the mansion Selena goes to her room realizing that it is only a matter of time before she looses the young completely  Blay doesn’t want his friend to be hurt anymore so he goes to Payne to see if there is something she can do to help.  Payne is able to stop the miscarriage because her mother is the scribe virgin, the one that brought all vampires into existence.
While out scouting for lessers Qhuinn discovers that the Omega has been keeping his brother alive.  Qhuinn thought that his whole family had been killed after they disowned him.  The Black Dagger Brotherhood remove Qhuinn as Johns protector and bring him into the fold as a brother. Qhuinn and Blay finally get together and realize that no matter what they have been there for each other.  Qhuinn arranges a mating ceremony to Blay knowing that they love each other and never want to be apart.  They both realize that when Selena has her young that they will be a mismatched family, to Blay like Qhuinns eyes absolutely perfect
The Hunter by Monica McCarty
Ewen "Hunter" Lamont has spent four years putting his prized tracking skills to the test in the service of the elite Highland Guard. Curt and short-tempered, no women has ever been able to thaw his fierce warrior's demeanor...until he meets Sister Genna, a troublesome Italian nun. Alluring and impudent, she doesn't seem like any nun he's ever met--and it's true that she is much more than she appears. She's really Lady Janet of Mar, the missing twin sister of a guardsman's wife, who has been working undercover as a courier for the Scots, and Ewen finds himself charged with finding her and ensuring her safe return. Yet it soon becomes clear that the betrothed Lady Janet affects him in ways he's never felt before. When betrayal leads to danger, everything depends on the man who can find anything. Except, perhaps, what matters most of all: love.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I must give applauds to Monica. This was an amazingly well written story. In the way she described their surroundings, the person's emotions, physical apperence and when she described some of the scents, it was like you could smell them off the pages. I have a vivid, active imagination what could I say? Its lovely to watch as a stone non-emotional "hunter" turn into a big softy, once he finally realizes he found the one thing he didn't even realize he had lost. I will be honest, I am thankful not to have lived in those days. I don't think I could have been as brave, strong and controlled as Janet. It was so hard to put he book down once I had picked it up.
