5/5 Review; Off the Clock by Roni Loren

Overtime has never felt so good…
Marin Rush loves studying sex. Doing it? That’s another story. In the research lab, Marin’s lack of practical knowledge didn’t matter, but now that she’s landed a job at The Grove, a high-end, experimental sex therapy institute, she can’t ignore the fact that the person most in need of sexual healing may be her.

Dr. Donovan West, her new hotshot colleague, couldn’t agree more. Donovan knows that Marin’s clients are going to eat her alive unless she gets some hands-on experience. And if she fails at the job, he can say goodbye to a promotion, so he assigns her a list of R-rated tasks to prepare her for the wild clientele of The Grove’s X-wing.

But some of those tasks are built for two, and when he finds Marin searching for a candidate to help her check off her list, Donovan decides there’s only one man for the job—him. As long as they keep their erotic, off-the-clock activities strictly confidential and without strings, no one will get fired—or worse, get attached…

**********

Off he Clock is the first in the Principles of Pleasure Series by Roni Loren. It's the first book I've read by this author and it certainly won't be the LAST!

Marin Rush is a college student helping out with research in the sleep lab, late one night she is wandering the hallways and overhears what she thinks is a extremely hot sex romp. Turns out it is Donovan West, taping scenerious for a college sexual research study. Marin has had the hots for Donovan for months (unrequited TA). Donovan asks for Marin's perspective on the scenerious to see if she thinks they would be a turn on. Well, they are and she takes notes and things into her own hands. One fateful night Donovan and Marin consumate their attraction and then she runs away. Not from him persay but yeah he is a dick.

Fast forward nine years, Marin is now sort of a single parent to her 18 year old brother and is now a researcher assistant, that is about to lose her funding. The doctor she works for encourages her to take an interview and get out of research and start practicing what she has learned. Off she goes to an interview at an exclusive therapy center. She litteraly runs into Donovon, who turns out to be in charge of the X Wing (wing for the rich and famous with sexual addictions).

Donovan - knows he has to find a way to make things work with Marin as a co-worker and needs to get his act together. Although, he is amazing therapist - his personal life is in ruins, still years after losing his family to a home invasion. He drinks too much, sleeps with a co-worker who is a hot bitch, shows up late for work, ect.

Although, Ms. Loren can write a steamy sex scene - her characters are full and well-developed. The story line flows and you will find yourself rooting for them, as well as the peripheral characters - I can't wait to see what happens next. If you are in the market for a quick hot romance, with a bit of darkness, but full of hope or need a little sex therapy for yourself - I highly recommend Off the Clock.
