5/5 Review: Prowled Darkness by Carrie Ann Ryan

If you don't know the genius that is Carrie Ann Ryan you should read all her books, and quickly!!! I love her wit, sense of humor, brilliant ideas, intelligent plot and developed characters. Her books are unique and so is this one. It is the 7th one of the series, but I selfishly hope it's not the last one. Full of surprises, hot romance and adventure it made me cry, laugh out loud!!! And generally made me feel very emotional. No stalling moments, no boring pages, just BRILLIANT as all of her books.. Eliana Sawyer one of the seven lightning struck women had been dating, Malik Ward a lion shifter. Only she didn't know that at the time, she assumed he was a human and thought he was her mate. She couldn't be more right.

WOW!! OH WOW!! edge of your seat Paranormal. I absolutely loved every minute of this book! I don't do well in suspenseful situations and yet, I was unable to put it down. The story just captured me.. it sucked me in, and wouldn't let go! I can not say enough about the intensely powerful writing of Ms.Ryan.. It is gripping and intense and honestly, her books should be considered for movies, these stories would keep the viewers forever on the edge of their seats.

Once again, Ms. Ryan hands us a cast of characters that are passionately human. We are never quite sure who the good guys are, who the bad guys are and who is just human. Who makes bad choices for good reasons and who makes good choices for bad ones. Flawed individuals with painful, heart wrenching, secrets in their pasts. People that need to learn how to trust and really who to trust.
I prefer character-driven stories and Carrie Ann Ryan delivers this type of story with a generous helping of cohesive plotline. Add into the mix, a conflicted world of magic and love and you've got the recipe for a fantastical world that Carrie Ann Ryan lives in.

I'm not going to give out spoilers. I dislike reading reviews where the person spews out every last detail of the story but suffice it to say; Kate decides who is important to her in her life... and really, goes into action without much thought to her own safety. I enjoyed the tension in this story and the tightness of the writing was a delight to read. I could envision what was happening from the descriptions on the page and there are scenes that I could swear I could smell and taste the surroundings.

Bottom line, if you like lots of action and a heroine who isn't a damsel in distress, this book is for you. I would read this series from the beginning instead of starting with this book; you'll enjoy it even more.
