CONTEST # 4 & INTERVIEW WITH PAMELA PALMER

Good morning luvies!!! So, since we have been celebrating BBL birthday, how do you guys enjoy it so far? By the way, have shared a toast with you yet? If not, here's a toast to all of us. Just don't get too drunk *laughs*
*Taking a sip of the champange before I go on* Well, what's a good party without games and fun right? Have no fear, the Feral Warrior is here. This weekend, the amazing, the talented, the beautiful, and ruling queen of Vampires and Feral Warriors, author Pamela Palmer has graciously granted us an exclusive interview.

Pamela Palmer is New York Times Bestselling on the rise. She's been well known for her Feral Warrior series, however, she's also giving us all another treat. Debuting her new series Vampire City, A Blood Seduction is coming to a store near you on 05/29

And let me tell you this, after reading the review by one of our staff, I couldn't wait to start reading this new book. I'm sure I will fall in love with Quinn just as I have with all the Warriors. Can't you see my excitement? *giggles*
Without further adieu, it is my honor and pleasure to introduce you to my new author goddess, Ms Pamela Palmer!!!

BBL: Good morning Pamela, thank you for visiting us today.

Pamela: Thank you. It's my pleasure being here *waves to the readers*

BBL: So, let me start by asking this. When did you start writing and what was the first thing you wrote?

Pamela: I started writing seventeen years ago. It took me two years to write that first book, a Terminator-type romance where the hero came from the future to protect the heroine from a villain from the future who wanted to kill her. Though the story got some critical acclaim, finaling in a number of contests including the Golden Heart, the paranormal romance subgenre was in its (fortunately, temporary) death throes. I finally got my first sale (my fourth completed manuscript) in 2006 with The Dark Gate to Harlequin Nocturne.

BBL: Where do you get your ideas on what you write?

Pamela: I honestly have no idea where the ideas come from. I suppose they come from everywhere and nowhere. Everything I see, watch, hear, and read goes into the creative well in my mind and when I’m searching for ideas, out they pop. Most have no resemblance to anything that went in. I tend to think through my fingers, so my best brainstorming happens with my laptop on my lap and my fingers on the keyboard.

BBL: Aside from writing, do you have any hobbies or things that you do to relax when you're not stressed out about writing?

Pamela: I’m not much of a hobby person. I tend to live in my head. So my favorite things to do when I’m not writing are read, watch movies, and travel. A have a few television shows that I follow, mostly serialized dramas (Fringe, Vampire Diaries, Game of Thrones, True Blood, Once Upon a Time). But mostly I love to create my own stories. There’s nothing I enjoy more than writing, so that’s what takes up most of my time.

BBL: Now this I have to know, *giggles*. Have you ever been so engrossed in writing a book that you have gone out in public in your pajamas or slippers without realizing it?

Pamela: Ha! No, but I’m in the habit of glancing down before I leave the house, just to make sure.

BBL: *laughs* To make sure you have on the right shoes and the right colors, right?
Can you tell us about any challenges you met getting your first book published?

Pamela: Absolutely. I collected rejections for nine years, from what felt like every editor and agent in the business, before someone finally said yes. There’s a lot of luck that goes into selling a book. You have to get the right project in front of the right person at the right time. And it took me quite a while to do that. But I never gave up!

BBL: That is a sound advise. I heard being a writer is a big challenge and you have to have a very wide knowledge of vocabulary as well. Tell us, what has been the toughest criticism/best compliment given to you as an author?

Pamela: The best compliment, and I never get tired of hearing it, is when readers tell me they couldn’t put my book down. I’ve had people tell me they stayed up all night or they called in sick to work because they had to keep reading. Others have told me they failed to study for an exam, or they missed their subway stop. And while I feel a tiny bit badly about messing with their lives, mostly I’m thrilled that they were so deeply immersed in one of my stories that the outside world ceased to matter for a little while.

BBL: What is your favorite immortal?

Pamela: It’s a tie between shape-shifters and vampires. Ha! How can I choose when I’m writing both?

BBL: *laughs* I guess that would be hard, I can see why you're indecisive. I've always loved your books so if I got asked the same question. I think I'll say both. The men/creatures are so hot and I'm all about alpha male. Yummmy....

*Making faces at the readers and Pamela* Ooops, sorry, I didn't mean to get carried away. So Pamela, do you snack while writing? Most peopel prefer something sweet like chocolate, how about you?

Pamela: Nah. I don't eat chocolate. *laughs* Yes I know what you're thinking, but that's just how I am.

BBL: How about a favorite color? Got any?

Pamela: Yes. Blue.

BBL: Okay, last question before I let you go. I know how busy you are and don't want to hold you up. Favorite pick of caffiene?

Pamela: Tea. But my special treat: Starbuck’s Chai lattes. Yum!

Well, that's all we have for you guys today. We hope you enjoyed the interview as much as we did. And now here come the prizes, Yay!!! 1. So nice to meet you Pamela and I thank you for sharing some smiles and giggles with us today, although I did raise my cross and hiss a bit when you mentioned you do not roll with chocolate or coffee, but your treat is a Chai Latte (Yum) and we do need diversity to make the world go round LOL

    So my questions;
Do you see the Feral Warriors as I want to say done but that seems to absolute a word, how about winding down or can we expect more to come?
Will the Vamp City novel turn into novels with more adventures to come?

I am new to your work and look forward to meeting your characters and journeying in their world. Thank you so much for spending time with and sharing with us today.

    1. Hi Denise! No, the Feral Warriors story still has a number of books to go, though I'm not sure exactly how many. At least four. Maybe a lot more. I'll be alternating Feral and Vamp City books. And yes, there will be more Vamp City novels, five in all (or at least in Arturo and Quinn's story).

  3. Fun interview! And living in your head can be way more entertaining than watching tv or movies, I like what plays in my head better too =)
I am so excited for your new book Pamela! I have been waiting months and it is finally getting close! I am so glad the paranormal market revived itself, with an author as talented as you it would be a shame to not have your stories out there.
