Lora Leigh Rule Breaker Interview & Giveaway

In RULE BREAKER, Lion Breed and enforcer Rule Breaker has just a few rules he doesn’t break. Not for anything. Not for anyone—like never have sex with a woman outside his own breed, especially a human woman. Especially someone too helpless, too fun loving and too full of life to ever be able to protect herself, let alone help him to protect her.  If the damned animal inside him insists on a mate, then why pick her? A woman who is an easy target and who can be used as a weapon against him at any time.  But what he suspects is mating heat may not be that at all. Just his animal instincts rioting, pacing, irritated whenever he's away from her.  What ensues is a fiery affair that breaks all the rules of mating heat and will eventually endanger his mate with the very rules designed to protect the Breeds—for she’s possibly been working against them…

Q. If you could live back in time, what time period would you choose and why?
I’d choose the early 1800’s. It was a time of growth. A time when adventures and possibilities were so endless. We didn’t have to worry about Global Warming, there was room to stretch, and every day brought something new. We learned more about the world by traveling, and we learned about people by meeting them. It was a less complicated time in many ways. A less hurried time, without the rush-rush-rush we live with today in many ways. Of course, there were none of the conveniences either, so there would definitely be a trade there.

Q. Have you ever come across a song that might fit the theme of one of your books?

Oh, several. One of the most memorable is Wildcard. It was inspired by Leanne Rimes’s “Probably Wouldn’t Feel This Way.” I listened to that song continual while I was writing that book.

Q.Do you remember what you felt when you had your first kiss?

Excited. A little scared. I felt poise on the edge of an adventure, a journey I hadn’t imagined existed. My heart was beating way too fast, I trembling, I was mesmerized. And it was even more wonderful than I had imagined it could be.

Q.What was the most creative pick up line you've ever used on someone or someone used on you?

“The swirl of my tongue will take you places no woman has ever gone before.” The story behind that one is … different. Maybe I should put that in a book?

Q.When writing do you have a playlist of music you like to listen to? What are a couple songs on it?

Oh yes. Unless one particular song has struck my imagination for a story, then my playlist is almost entirely 80’s music but mixed with a little new stuff.
Bonnie Tyler – Bright Eyes
Tina Turner – Holding Out For A Hero
Def Leppard – Love Bites
Those are just a few of the 150 song list.

Q. Besides your own, what is one of your favorite series to keep up with?
Christine Feehan – Carpathian Series
Nalini Singh – Psy-Changeling Series
Kresley Cole – Immortals Series
Christine Warren – Others Series
J.D. Robb – In Death series

Q. What do you think you would be doing if you weren't writing?

That’s a very scary thought actually.

Probably doing my level best to teach my dogs to talk or something totally insane like that. I get very bored very easily unless I’m writing, and I tend to get carried away with unique … umm… projects, if I’m not buried in my imagination. So, I just thank God for the escape He provided me with. Trust me, my family thanks him too, they used to have to deal with me before I began writing. My mother said it wasn’t pleasant. Especially during the years I tried my hand at being a chemist when I’d mix every known household cleaner, shampoo, or liquid compound I could find together. She says I used to get a bit inventive. I personally don’t remember it. She blames the lack of recall on the fumes…

Q. Do you have any hobbies or activities you enjoy doing?

I can halfway make gorgeous Barbie gowns. I can halfway make quilts. I have half a green thumb. I love to read better than I love bacon and I actually manage that one pretty well. I can halfway actually cause a hell of a lot of trouble if left to my own devices and know just enough about a few things to probably end up in some very serious trouble. I’m very thankful I write. I’m convinced it’s kept me from doing something like climbing those mountains I always said I would climb when I was younger. I’m so damned clumsy, I’d have fallen to my death. Or caused someone else to fall – that would have been a bad thing.

Q. What is something you do to de-stress?

What do I do to de-stress? I write!

Q. We all know about muses...what do you think inspires you to allow your creative juices flowing?

I actually believe I might have two Muses. And I’m convinced they’re a little upset at being paired with me for a writer, so they do their best to get back at me as often as possible.

They’re harsh taskmaster’s. They have no mercy, no understanding, and very little sympathy for illness, family or appointments. They keep me up all night with visions of erotic delights dancing through my head or bloody murder scenes that leave me cringing. Sometimes all in the same dream. And they does it in full color with written descriptions like captioning - *sigh.* You should feel very sorry for me, because they’re relentless, and quite tireless in how they’re determined to push past even my own limits.

My Muse’s and I have a very unique relationship. Visions of erotic delights (yum yum) paired with the bloody scenes that often have me cringing and refusing to fully describe. I mean, I do my best to fully describe the erotic delights – that can get tiring enough. Right?

Thank you for the wonderful questions, I’ve enjoyed answering them. And if you’d like to learn about the various series and characters my Muses haunt me with, then you can find me at www.loraleigh.com.
