5/5 Review: Brave the Heat (The McGuire Brothers) by Sara Humphreys

The only fire he can't put out...
Jordan McKenna is back in town, and Fire Chief Gavin McGuire's feelings when he sees her after all these years are as raw as the day she left. Then he was just a kid wearing his heart on his sleeve. Now he spends every day trying to atone for the tragedy he couldn't prevent.
Is the torch he carries for her
Jordan's life has not exactly worked out the way she expected. A divorced mother of two with a failed acting career, Jordan's biggest concern about coming back to Old Brookfield was seeing her first love. But when a series of suspicious fires breaks out, Jordan and Gavin realize that dealing with the sparks between them may be the least dangerous of their problems

BRAVE THE HEAT is the first installment in Sara Humphreys contemporary adult The McGuire Brothers romance series focusing on the McGuire brothers from the fictional town of Old Brookfield, New England. Sara Humphreys tell a beautiful story about the love that Jordan and Gavin had and lost.

I am once amazed at Sara Humphreys ability to bring her characters to life and how they can so easily get under my skin. Jordan is strong, brave, but yet a broken young woman. There are many points in the story that have you wondering why something that would bother or embarrass anyone else simply doesn't faze her at all. The reality is that I love that about her. I envy her ability to take life so nonchalantly. I don't, however, envy all that she had to go through and wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. My heart broke for her in many places and I'm still not sure if it is completely put back together.

Gavin McGuire is the very much admired Fire Chief of that hometown. He comes complete with good looks, a wonderfully tight-knit family and a group of firefighters that he is committed to.  He already is not in a good mood due to someone who is setting fires in town, than to top it off Jordan who was the love of his life comes back to town 15 years after walking out of his life. He has never stopped loving her can they rekindle their love?

BRAVE THE HEAT was just a good, fun read. It wasn't overly angsty or too dramatic. I'm a sucker for first love first stories and I was drawn into this one immediately. I liked how the everyone welcomed Jordan and her children. This has to be one of the best books I have read. The storyline was exceptionally well written and the characters were so good. I enjoyed how the author developed this story and incorporated the secondary characters in the storyline. I enjoyed watching the two main characters romance develop and how the story ended.
This is a series that I definitely will be reading again..
