Release: To Love A King by Shona Husk

To keep the balance between good and evil at the Court of Annwyn, Prince Felan ap Gwyn has two weeks to marry and take the crown. But he wants more than just power—he wants love; a love he once had but was too foolish to hold on to.

It took years for Jacqueline Ara to put her life back together after Felan abandoned her. She’s moved on, even if her heart still burns for him. But with war in Annwyn looming and death creeping into the mortal world, Felan and Jacqui will need to heal old wounds and rekindle the passion that once welled between them…or face losing everything.

~ INTERVIEW ~

BBL: What is one of your favorite Myths/legends to write about?

SH: I like Beauty and the Beast (which was part of the inspiration for The Goblin King). And I like to research myths. At the moment I’m still researching fairy lore to incorporate into the next three Annwyn books (out in 2015). There is so much fascinating lore out there in fairytales, myths and legends. CathSiths, Kelpies and banshees are all part of the fairy world, and will appear in future books.
When writing do you have a playlist of music you like to listen to?What are a couple songs on it?

Some books have playlists, others it’s just one or two songs. For To Love a King some of the songs were:

Sleep Alone—Bat for Lashes

Until the End of the World—U2

Everyone’s Waiting—Missy Higgins

Trembling Hands—The Temper Trap

No Light, No Light—Florence and the Machine

BBL: What do you do when you think nobody is watching?

SH: Dance like an idiot to whatever is on the radio. Talk to the cats in meows…the usual stuff.
What was your favorite childhood book?

Playing Beattie Bow by Ruth Park (although I would’ve been around 11 when I read it, it’s one of those books that stuck with me). I’m reading it to my kids at the moment. The other book that stuck with me was Daggerspell by Katherine Kerr. I was 14 when I read it and I loved it so much I kept up with the series…all 15 books that took over a decade to come out.

BBL: What is your favorite addition to chocolate?

SH: More chocolate! Seriously I love mint chocolate and also Green and Blacks Maya Gold which has cinnamon and orange flavors
BBL: What does your husband/significant other say about your writing erotic stories? What about your family and/or do they read your books?

My hubby doesn’t care. He does wonder how I think up all the plots though…but they are just there waiting to be written. My sister reads most of my stuff, sometimes before it’s published, sometimes after. Often I bounce ideas off her as I world build.
BBL: Besides your own, what is one of your favorite series to keep up with?

SH: I love the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. I’m also enjoying the Roaring Twenties (historical paranormal romance) by Jenn Bennett. The erotic regency diaries by Viveka Portman are also a lot of fun.
BBL: What do you think you would be doing if you weren't writing?

SH: I was a civil designer so I’d probably still be doing that. While designing roads was fun writing books and building new worlds is better :)
BBL: Do you have any hobbies or activities you enjoy doing?

SH: I like martial arts. At the moment I’m doing aikido. I also run, do cross stitch and dabble in a little drawing and painting.
BBL: What is something you do to de-stress?

SH: Eat chocolate which leads to running. I also meditate or listen to music. Singing along to Shout by Tear for Fears is very therapeutic.
BBL: We all know about muses...what do you think inspires you to allow your creative juices flowing?

SH: Deadlines are very motivational. I know they scare some people but I like them (that could be my engineering and project management background). I also use tarot cards for inspiration. I also believe in never stopping learning. I take classes, I read nonfiction (as well as fiction) so I’m always giving my subconscious new things to mull over which I think is very important.
